“From the very start we looked at the possibility of political motivation,” ayon kay Atienza.

“The campaign season is peaking. This could be part of a political exercise of some people and we discussed the matter.”

    Eto pa isa, kay Chavit.......

    Chavit Comforts Kids with Cash

After raffling off money in a campaign sortie in Misamis Oriental, Team Unity senatorial candidate Luis "Chavit" Singson admitted yesterday he tried to comfort the children held hostage in a bus by Armando Ducat Jr. on Wednesday by giving them P500 each.

"Baka ipa-disqualify niyo na naman ako (You might seek my disqualification again)," Singson told The STAR in a telephone interview.

Singson, who negotiated for the release of the 26 pre-school children and their four teachers and managed to get two grenades from Ducat during the hostage crisis, explained how he came to play a major role in the drama.

Singson is being criticized for talking to Ducat and boarding the bus with the hostages, which police authorities said was a lapse in the handling of the incident.

Singson said Ducat was not a personal friend but he went to the scene when he heard Ducat’s accomplice, Cesar Carbonell calling for him to come over in a radio interview. Carbonell was the photographer when Singson attended a function in Zamboanga years ago.

Singson, the Ilocos Sur governor who is faring poorly in the surveys midway into the May 14 elections, said he also talked with Ducat over the phone before he boarded the bus.

"I asked him if he needed me and he said yes," Singson said. Singson stressed he did not think his participation would earn him much political brownie points.

Haaay naku, Pilipinas!

Kaya hindi natin madiin sina Makoy & company when they left in '86. Most didn't have the guts to charge them head on. They got away scot-free, and we still haven't got the money they stole.

Kung ganyan ang attitude ng Pinoy, why not put a big "FOR SALE" sign so other foreign countries will buy us? So we don't have to migrate, and many of our troubles are over?

On the other hand, if he walks free, it will only reinforce our inability to enforce the law.

hahaha....how ignorant are these people? ok lang sa kanila that this person they trusted endangered their kids for a political platform?? just because there wasn't a bloodbath and their kids were treated well doesn't mean that they weren't on the brink of a massacre the entire time! guns and live hand grenades were next to their children, and the full firepower of an entire police force was aimed at them!!! ganong kababa mga IQ nitong mga ito?? :twak:

at the end of the day, do you think the state of education and child welfare is any better after this incident? it may be, but i doubt it.

most importantly, this type of reaction will encourage any sira ulo with access to explosives and a political message to become a copycat. good luck na lang to all the parents of the Philippines
