For what application? If you want to be sure, go with a trusted name. I use First Alert (U.S. brand) Auto/Boat/RV model on the Pajero and a First Alert Kitchen model in the home kitchen. Around Php 1,500.00/ea yata.

Meron din kaming locally manufactured 'big' fire extinguisher just in case.

Remember that placement and number of available extinguishers is critical.

you should consider yun dry chem (cant remember the exact term) na fire extinguisher para hindi ka na magpa-refill, bad trip mga extinguishers dito sa office namin kada-taon pa-refill ng pa-refill kahit nde nagagamit.

we have one sa house bought 8 years ago, dinala ko sa refill station dyan sa anonas kasi duda ako sa metro nya, parati full. tapos sabi nun nag-refill ok daw yun kasi baka umabot pa ng 20 years sa min. ibang klase extinguisher daw yun pang-matagalan, yun nga yun dry chem ata.

for most businesses, its a requirement to have your fire extinguisher refilled/checked every year.

regarding dry powder fire extinguishers meron preventive maintenance yan. not only do you need to weigh it every year, you also need to invert it and shake a little every month. this is to keep the powder, well, powder (as opposed to solid). pag matagal kasi na naka-stand tumitigas yung powder. pag binaliktad at inalog every month naiiwasan na tumigas. another thing you need to do is to check the the CO2 cartridge once a year, dapat yung aluminum plug (actually it is just a thick aluminum foil) is still intact. pag may butas na then the CO2 is gone and the cartridge needs to be replaced. there is no indication (i.e., pressure gauge na may green-red face) of the cartridge pressure so you will need to disconnect the cartridge by unscrewing it from the unit. be careful you don't poke the aluminum plug, tamaan ka ng high pressure 3000 psi CO2 dedbol ka, or the cartridge can go flying like a missile and kill anyone unlucky enough to be in its path. and that is the reason why it is adviced that this part of the maintenance is done by competent persons, so you stay alive and not dead.

safety first. if not sure better pay someone to do it for you. also the requirement that fire extinguishers be certified every year is to make sure it is in working condition when the time comes for it to work.
