Sorry but I believe 95k per day times 26 days per month equal to 2.47M per month. That's a lot of money!

Revillame sought advice on ‘hot’ Ferrari, says PASG chief

MANILA, Philippines -- Popular television show host Wilfredo "Willie" Revillame has contacted the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) to inquire about what he should do about a Ferrari that he was accused of owning without having paid the corresponding taxes, said the head of the PASG Thursday.

"He called up one our men and asked what he should do,” PASG head Undersecretary Antonio Villar Jr. told reporters, adding he also received information from the national police's Traffic Management Group that Revillame had a made similar inquiry.

Villar said the next time the car is seen, it would be seized, adding, “Whether you are its owner or merely its driver, you may be held liable. Does he want to be a spectacle if he's intercepted in public one day for driving a hot car?”

The Undersecretary insisted that the Ferrari was a “hot” car, saying the TV host should just admit owning it and turn it over to PASG. He said the agency may even help him in the procedures to settle the customs duties.

The Ferrari, worth about P30 million with a corresponding customs duty ranging from P12 million to P14 million, has been seen parked at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. studio complex in Quezon City, where Revillame hosts a noontime show.

“He goes to ABS-CBN with that car, it's often parked there. Almost everybody --thousands actually -- have seen him driving it. Even those who come to watch his show can attest that he drives off in a Ferrari,” he said.

Revillame claimed that he was merely “test-driving” the car while making up his mind whether to buy it or not.

Villar, however, disputed this, saying a test drive does not last for a month. Even if the car was originally registered to someone else, the present "owner" or driver of the car should shoulder the tax liability the car carries.

PASG confirmed on Wednesday that Revillame was driving a “hot" multi-million-peso 2006-model Ferrari. The car was subject to surveillance for 20 days and the PASG operative confirmed Revillame uses it.

PASG agents were set to confiscate the red Ferrari the same day but Revillame arrived at work using a different car.

“He has a lot of money, he could at least have paid the taxes for the car properly,” Villar had said, saying that the vehicle was covered with a certificate of tax payment for P1 million that turned to be fake, was registered in Cebu and had its license plates released in Manila.

A personal assistant of Revillame, Katia Montenegro, was quoted in a media report saying that the TV host has met the “middleman” who was selling the car and who showed documents to prove that the that car was not smuggled.

Montenegro said Revillame only has three cars registered in his name -- a second-hand Hummer, a Toyota Innova and a Toyota Hi-lux.
