    Police confirms two explosions in Pasig business district

    MANILA (AFP) - Two explosions occurred in a business district of the Philippines capital Manila on Friday but no one was hurt in the blasts, police said.

    The explosions occurred just a few meters (feet) apart near a police post in the Ortigas district of Pasig City, Manila, National Police Chief Arturo Lomibao said.

    Police said the blasts cracked the concrete sidewalk but caused no further damage. Business went on as usual in Ortigas, which contains several major shopping malls, offices and the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank.

    Lomibao said the crudely-made explosive devices lacked a triggering or wiring mechanism.

    He did not say who might be responsible for the blasts.

    The blasts came just before President Gloria Arroyo ended a week-long state of national emergency to counter an alleged coup plot by rebellious military and police officers and communist insurgents.

    kung ako rin taga oposisyon, bat pupunta pa ako ng ortigas na napakalayo sa malacanang para manggulo. eh di malacanang na mismo ang pasabugin.

    sa panahon ngayon... wag basta-basta maniniwala sa kwento, unless may pruwebang maipapakita. ;)

    If GMA knows for a fact that prolonging SOE would be putting a nail in her coffin.

    hindi nga, baka maging dahilan nga para i-extend. hehe

    actually praning lang sya kaya sandamukal na container van kinalat sa mendiola. para ngang may nilagay na maze eh.

    i read in a column that the opposition are asking starbucks patrons to wear black bands while having their coffee, to protest GMA's rule and demand her resignation. di ko lang sure if it's that particular branch.


    on one hand, one would easily point the finger at the administration, para di matuloy ang protest.

    but somehow this stinks a lot worse...maybe someone is out to make something out of nothing...

    It's easy to make a case for anyone to do it. The admin to extend SONE, the opposition to increase the fears of Marcos-era martial law, the left just to stir things up... the military to make GMA rely on them more and to remind her "who's her daddy..."

    So we should take it as it is... a sign of absolutely nothing but a maintaining of the status quo. Now if they'd gone off one week ago, then they'd have meant something.

    Likely frat lang yun... now say it with me: "Salen-ga, a Filipino... (come on, you know the rest...)

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
