MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) A 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Metro Manila Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE 4) A 5.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Metro Manila and surrounding provinces at 1:29 p.m. Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said, causing office workers in the metropolis to rush out of their buildings.
Phivolcs corrected its earlier estimate that the earthquake was 6.2 in magnitude.
In a telephone interview, Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said the quake had an epicenter at sea, 111 kilometers northwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, a depth of 11 kilometers, and was of tectonic origin.
There were no immediate reports of damage from the quake, Solidum said.
Intensity 5 was felt in Lubang Island and Looc, Mindoro Occidental; intensity 4 in Quezon City, Mandaluyong, and Makati; intensity 3 in Rosario, Cavite, Clark in Pampanga; Bagac, Bataan, and Canlubang, Laguna; and intensity 2 in Calamba, Laguna, according to Janilla De Ocampo of the Phivolcs Seismology Division.
Solidum warned that minor aftershocks are possible.
