hay naku... ang hihina ng mga taga opposition at ng writer na ito...

According to Rep. Rolex Suplico, Mrs. Arroyo issued EO 454, which empowers the government, through the Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC), to directly control the telecommunications sector such as radio, television, mobile phones, among others, last Aug. 16, the same time the House of Representatives was busy with the impeachment complaints being pushed against the President.

The transfer of the “control,” Suplico claimed, was in violation of Section 6 of Republic Act 7925, or the Telecommunications Policy Act of the Philippines, which prohibits the DoTC to directly control the telecommunications sector since the department falls directly under Malacañang.
the NTC is currently under the just-created-last-year Commission on Information and Communications Technology (2004 lang yan created). the CICT is directly under the Office of the President. so how come they claim that Malacanang is targetting to directly control the NTC when in fact, it is already under the Office of the President!!!

just a backgrounder... the CICT was formed to "split" the DOTC... this move was patterned after our countries who have already dedicated an agency/office for technology & communications (removing the "C" from the DOTC). problem was that even after a year, the CICT is still isn't running (lack of funds probably) and Malacanang is just reverting back to the DOTC the supervision & control of the NTC.

so don't be always sure of the BS that the media is trying to feed you these days...

but I still hope that the NTC will be transferred back to the CICT once it has established itself effectively.
