Typical Filipino. Disorganized and ruthless. You can't blame the Beatles for not knowing the courtesy visit up front. It's our lack of organization. The Makati and shanty area is still a reality up to now.

Still I have to give it to the Beatles. Being professional, they played. It is us who are _________ (fill the blanks).

actually yang beatles concert na yan isa sa mga kalandian ni imelda. nandyan pa yung miss universe, all the ali-frazier fight. all were staged to announce to the world that the marcos regime is doing good. buti nga sa kanya ini-snub sya ng beatles.

According to my dad who has old enough during that time, they were arrogant..provided that also during that time martial law was still in effect. am i ryt? then expect a treatment like that....

but still thats no way to treat visitors...

nonetheless the concert took place and there were a lot of people who watched..

Haven't you noticed the article was biased on the side of the Beatles?....it didn't contain any comment from our side...
since most of us wasn't even born during that time..(is there any?) we can't really tell the truth.

    John Lennon deserved that beating.
He went on record saying "We're more
    popular than Jesus.."
Of course, later on John Lennon had a
change of heart as his songs became less
and less juvenile and more and more
    philosophic.
He is still one of the greatest songwriters
    that ever lived.

The 1974 Miss Universe and the Ali-Frazier
Thrilla in Manila were landmark events. Don't
belittle these specially if you were not even
born yet during that time. I was old enough to
remember how proud Filipinos were in hosting
    those events.

Why did Filipinos manhandle the Beatles in 1966?

    Some theories:

    1. The Marcoses were offended and ordered their people to mistreat the Beatles. Foreshadowing martial law.

    2. The generation gap was wider. The 60's adults resented the Beatles. They despised Beatle music and the way the Beatles set a bad example to the youth (drug use, long hair, etc). The Beatles' "snub" of the popular First couple was the last straw that unleashed the anger simmering within the conservative adult Pinoy.

    3. The banality of evil. Ordinary people doing bad things. We are a nation of little Marcoses.

according to one biography i read of John Lennon, they weren't informed that there was a dinner for them in Malacanang. parang nagkagulo yung schedule nila kasi disorganized naman daw si Brian Epstein, manager nila. so they didnt go. kaya nagalit ang mga Marcoses. tapos pinagugulpi nga daw sila on the way to the airport.
