I was brought up with this way of treating our maids. I think it's a parent's way of teaching kids to respect and not to maltreat our household help. Since as we all know some kids could get really bossy and order the maids around, or sometimes yell at them.

As for the spoiling an employee part, yup, it's happened to me.

ung mga nagsasabi degrading ang uniform, sila ang may perception na ang pagiging maid is the lowest of the low... kaya nila sinasabi lalo mo dinedegrade ang maid pag pina uniform mo.

uy seyoso n to! IMHO..hindi discriminating pagsuot ng uniform ng ,maids.isang marangal n trabho yun....il admit my mom is a caregiver in ca...pero hndi sya nakauniform but my point is its one the most "descent job" i've known. nagiging discrimination to, or kahit saang field kung "hindi mo tatratuhin ng tao at maayos ang empleyado mo."

teka, when you say treating them as part of the family, do you mean sleeping in the same room?

Yes you treat them as "family" but there are bounderies, there are rules. Don't forget this is a employee - employer relationship. Important thing is you treat them right - pay their wages on time, give them their vacation, etc.

ito naman sa food yan nanaman kayo eh assume and presume porke ba hinde sabay kumain or iba pagkain nila inaapi na? sa amin kasi talagang iba ang pagkain nila dahil meron silang sariling budget sa grocery monthly, anong malay namin kung anong gusto nilsng kainin or kung gusto ba nila pagkain namin? eh di sila na bumili at magbudget ng pagkain nila monthly, kung example gusto ko steak kainin ng dinner, eh gusto nila boneless bangus or tuyo so ibig sabihin inaapi ko sila dahil hinde ko sila pinakainng steak?

to each his own lang yan, kung gusto ng amo nag maguniform yun maids/yaya nila ano ba pakialam ninyo hinde naman kayo nagpaapsweldo,

Again, whats with the TREAT-THE-MAID-LIKE-FAMILY thing?

she sleeps in an airconditioned room? she wakes up when she wants, sleeps when she wants, goes out when she wants, raids the refrigerator when she's hungry, clicks on the tv and sits in the sofa with her feet up?

last time i checked, something like that was called "daughter"

the people who are stating this are just saying it over and over without bothering to explain why #1 and #2 are true. maybe saying it enough times will make it so
    may nakakapansin din pala

Nothing should be humiliating about wearing a uniform -- unless of course, it's a prison uniform.

I agree with PK. I'm a mod at some of the sister forums of Tsikot. This thread has not crossed any boundaries which I would deem offensive either, or defamatory. Just as long as we express our opinions in an educated and gentelmanly manner without resorting to cussing at each other or personally attacking one another, then I see nothing wrong.
