If they pass the divorse law, they should scrap the annulment thingy.

Well its our culture here. In most cases kung nabuntis yung babae papakasalan ng lalake because of family pressure.

Kaya dapat palaging may baon... mahirap na at baka may tumukso. hahaha.

then i guess they should also amend the family code in the definition of marriage. Sabi sa family code.. marriage is a special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman. (bad trip hindi pwede gay to gay tsk tsk hahaha)

it won't be permanent anymore with the passing of the divorce law.

point taken, but the idea of divorce law is to facilitate the declaration of absolute nullity of the marriage. I haven't read the bill but i'm sure the grounds will be different from annulment. And there will be less red carpet. Kasi kung ok naman pala yung annulment, why do we need the divorce law?

Mas mawawalan ng permanence kung mapasa yung divorce law in that respect.

meron po bang tsikoteer dito na nabasa na yung bill? Ano po yung grounds for divorce na nakalagay?

warning: entering super idealistic romantic mode....

tanong ko lang: would husband and wife, who've obviously grown apart, stay together just because there is no divorce, or because annulment is too costly? Lumalabas na napipilitan na lang silang magsama e. Best case, they'll put up a show and live like a normal family; worst case is kapwa sila mangangaliwa n stuff. Either way, it's gonna s*ck.

iniisip ko lang kasi, if your love is truly, um, true, would a silly little thing like divorce or annulment matter at all? wouldn't your love, as they say, conquer all? Is your union so fragile that you need the divorce bill to not become a law to ensure its survival? Kung konting away lang or hirap e divorce kaagad ung iniisip(and not, say, talking things over, compromising, marriage counseling), then i'd say there's a completely different problem altogether.

pasensya na po kung medyo strong ung dating ng post; i know things aren't as simple, here in the real world. just wanted to raise this point. peace B)

Kung nawala na ang pagmamahalan ng mag asawa sa isa't isa, bakit mo pang pagpipilitin silang magsama as husband and wife? Dapat magkaroon ng divorce law. Dapat rin matutong respetuhin ng simbahan ang separation of the Church and State.

i am sure there will be safeguards to prevent hasty and spur-of-the-moment decisions to simply file a divorce. it's true that this law will facilitate declaration of absolute nullity of marriage--problematic & hopeless marriage. as i said this law is not aimed to destroy happy marriages. and as one poster puts it, there should be 'no-fault' divorce allowed.

Yeah i guess there will be safeguards. Dapat nde basta basta makapag file ng divorce den. Kumbaga, divorce can be the "hope" for those couples who can't afford annulment. And for the desperate individuals who are very unhappy with their marriages with unworkable differences. True, that there are boo-boos to some marriages and it can't be help. Once in a while there are unions that are better off separated. Mostly, the fear here is having "jlos" marrying and divorcing as they please.
yun lang talaga. gulo talaga. hirap.

    My dilemma about divorce is:

Who's happiness am I doing this for?
Is it for myself? So that I could end this relationship that has lost its luster and start a new life. Don't I deserve to have a better life than simply feel miserable for the rest of my life? Am I doing this to please me? Doesn't everybody deserve a second chance for a better and more peaceful existence?

    OR

I would rather suffer the rest of my life than disobey the UNITY blessed by GOD. Wouldn't I be happy if GOD is not upset about contradicting what he has bonded together? Even though I've seen that dishonesty and distrust have ruled the relationship, I wouldn't have any other choice but to follow through just TO PLEASE GOD!

    SO,
Am I to follow what I feel to make me happy or Am I to follow what GOD has expected me to do to make GOD happy?!

I Think everyone has his/her own answer..I know I have!

A divorce law is not a threat to those people who continue to hold their marriage vows sacred. Nor is it a threat to those with the perserverence and patience to sort out difficult marriages. Nor is it a threat to those whose religious beliefs provide them with spiritual relief from the day to day troubles of a rocky marriage. And a divorce law should not threaten those whose personal moral standards would never allow them to even consider divorce.

Therefore, even if a divorce law is passed, people who are opposed to divorce can exercise their option NOT to get divorced. But why should people who believe that divorce is wrong prevent those who believe otherwise from having the option of divorce?

I am neither Muslim nor Jew, which is great becuase I enjoy eating pork. Should I be prevented from eating pork even though I am not Jewish or Muslim? I think not. Should a non-Catholic be prevented from eating meat during Lent? No.

If someone does not believe in divorce, then by all means DON'T GET DIVORCED. But please don't impose that limitation on others who believe otherwise.

    black sentra: mike black!?!

edit : omiged mike....we are honored to have read your post.herherher

anyway...this is a very hard topic to think about..it's not a matter of "yes i am in favor" and "no i am not in favor"...

the decision should be based on numerous factors like our culture..etc...

    a big YES to divorce.

When my parents' marriage was on the rocks, it was sooo hard for me to see them doing stupid things, trying to hurt each other, losing respect, love and care, I thought that it is better to see them with separate lives rather than being like that.

paulit-ulit na lang itong panukalang divorce, di lang makapasa talaga dito satin coz of the resistance ng Religious groups... pero dapat matagal ng pinasa yan. am in favor basta dapat lang ay strict implementation ng safeguards for both parties and the children..

FYI, there are only 2 countries in the world without divorce... (3 sana but Chile passed its divorce law this week lang)

it's Malta and guess what... the Philippines... yeheyyyyyy
