Its not a seasonal thing. It's a regular tax done at the post office for packages. Maybe that is how the Philippine Post office learned to profit from the internet? By taxing every package sent including the shipping cost.

Pwede, the BIR is now hell bent in bleeding the people dry. Case in point, our company had PTT (Prefferential Tax Treatment) before because of it being an ROHQ based here in the Philippines. PTT equates to just 15% tax deducted to ones monthly salary. Enter Kim Henares, and we are now languishing at 30% tax deduction every month.

And they seem to be hitting more on the common hard-working man more than anything else. Sakit sa bulsa indeed!

BTT: I don't think it's right to include the freight cost in the tax computation as that does not reflect the value of the item declared.

    McLaren ba yan?

the legal way to avoid tax is if you can prove that it will be for personal use only. also, you can always check with Phil. Tariff commission if pano ba talaga dapat yung computation ng taxes. Philippine Tariff Commission

they are friendlier than people from BIR. and the good thing is, they sometimes disagree on how the BIR operates. give them a call, they might be able to help.
