Natikman nyo na ba ang Coffee Alamid?

    From Manila Bulletin Online http://www.mb.com.ph/issues/2004/10/...102120881.html

Coffee Alamid - A New Discovery

Coffee Alamid is one the most prized coffee in the world which comes from animal droppings. This prized but also costly coffee costs P3,500/kilo or P450/100 grams (produces 12 cups) comes from the droppings of the Philippine Civet (a cat like nocturnal mammal,).

In its rare coffee character, the Bote Central Co. is the one who manufactured and commercialized the idea that has been existing for a long time, among our local farmers. The coffee beans, swallowed by civets are processed through the digestive system of the said animal and the beans that will pass out, whole will be gathered then, and enjoyed as a regular coffee.

Nakatikim na ako nya. Masarap talaga.

in normal procedure, you pick the coffee fruits then sundried it until it is fully dried then next you roast it and grind it, yan pwede na yan sa coffemaker. sa alamid coffe, alamid or civets eat the fruits (at night, nocturnal sila) then after days(don't know how many) you can see their droppings below the coffee tree, completely peeled off. you'll just roast the beans and grind.

I remember seeing some in the native food stalls at Market! Market!

They are packaged in small Gerber-sized jars. I don't know how much they cost though.

fermentation lang pala eh... e di pakain sa kambing yung coffee beans.. the trick now is how to separate the beans from the natural "u-u" of the goat hehehehe haluan na rin siguro ng u-u ng kambing for added aroma
