They declared the storm at around 130KPH then, while the US Naval Tracking and CNN were both saying in their respective tracking that it was at 220KPH.

The explanation in the thread was saying that PAGASA failed to convert the speed from MPH to KPH,- so it was indeed 130MPH (and not 130KPH). Therefore the converted speed should be in the vicinity of what the US Naval and CNN were tracking. Bottomline, the public was misinformed!

I assume that if that was the case, then they have already rectified it. And in this regard, Reming is as powerful as Milenyo....

though its a precautionary measure however PAGASA should give a more effective forecast, with their state of the art machineries, typhoon will hit manila tom lunch time, whereas yesterdays report says it would be today till tom morning...

i just watch the day after tomorrow last night on DVD, the storyline is how we underestimate and misuse the good environment, turns out that it will all go back to us... ang basurang tinapon mo, babalik din sayo...

tama ka diyan.. in a situation such as this, it is critical to give out true and accurate information to the public...Pagasa may sometimes err in their forecast (owing to their 'antique' equipment) but they can still rely on noaa or jtwc in guam for a more accurate info....saka may pork barrel funds naman mga lawmakers..bakit hindi na lang nila dito (equipment upgrade) dalhin ang pondo nila..ilang provinces ba ang tinatamaan ng bagyo?
