When we were kids before getting our first communion, i remember a classmate of mine bringing the left over pieces where the host where cut from. Those were not Consecrated thus are simply crackers/bread and not sacred. The student could have just taken those from the makers rather than getting one that has already been consecrated by the priest.

i also remember a certain filipino pasalubong delicacy that had a white cracker like wrapping a rectangle sweet made from peanuts and sugar; the wrapping was edible and looks and tastes like the host.

I did a stint as an altar boy during my youth.
We would get hosts from the can where it's stored and eat it like snacks.

At the same time, it was inculcated in us the sacredness of the consecrated hosts.
Much stricter pa nga dahil bawal talagang hawakan ng nagko-komunyon.

So when the practice of lay ministers administering the hosts started, it was an awkward phase for me.
I would specifically fall in line sa pila ng paring nagpapa-komunyon, not the lines for the lay ministers.
Lalo na when it started na it was given to the parishioners themselves, it took a while for me to get used to it.
This pandemic normalized everything, kaya din siguro nagkaroon ng idea at ng chance si Ateneo boy.

korek.. for 100 pesos makakakain ka na nang complete meal.. kung alam mo kung san bibili.. so kung 2x a day ka kakain.. that's 200 per day x 30 = 6K per month.. buhay ka na sa food..

May napuntahan ako ganyan style sa Rose and Grace restaurant sa Batangas but it's become SO EXPENSIVE. When it became "presyong Makati" we stopped going na. Nung 80s mura lang pero 2000s mahal na, naging stop over kasi

Yup na shock ako nung before the pandemic kumain kami ni misis sa Rose & Grace, 3 ulam lang 1k binayaran namin. At that time parang 350 lang ang bucket of 6 na fried chicken.

Naalala ko kasi nung late 90s, ang 1 order ng bulalo ay 90 kesos lang.

Yung presyo nila pang sit down restaurant na sa Makati/BGC. Turo Turo style pero sobrang mahal! I don't know if they are still making money kasi ang dami ng restaurants ngayon sa Batangas/Laguna na masarap, nice ambiance and CHEAP. Kanina lang I ate at a restaurant in Laguna na Makati/BGC ambiance pero ang mura!

Since you are within the vicinity, try Ylaya bakery for their old style pugon cooked bread. I am a fan of their ensaymada and pusit, 2petot Lang each. Masarap i-oven toast mo muna bago kainin. Sa kaliwa, est 50meters after ng arko coming from sta cruz

We just bought the ensaymada! It's so small though and it's P5. I like ensaymada like this compared to restaurant/hotel ensaymada. Just like ensaymada sold here in Makati at Insular Bakery. So good also!
