Rhodium, which is used in catalytic converters, has shot up in value from £750 an ounce in 2014 to about £20,000 today.

The MIL will lit up. The error would indicate "catalytic performance ..." or an O2 sensor error, but car would run with possibly fuel consumption increased and fail emissions test.

Programming the computer to ignore catalytic errors would need the factory expertise. I doubt the factory would do it for you and even then, since you don't have catlytic converter, the emissions test would still fail.
