Why buy an old EK for 2.4M when you can buy a new Type R for 3M?
However, if a chance is presented upon me on a reasonably-priced stock Civic EK SiR, I’d take it. Maybe 300k but if it’s beyond that, I can get an old WRX STi for less than 1M.

^^^ Actually there’s alot of FK8 owners who still owns a SiR. If I’m only at liberty to post a pic of a friend’s garage.
The 2.4M all-Mugen immaculate SiR is a one-off collectible. You can get a Type R any day, but you probably won't find another EK SiR in that condition with that kind of complete Mugen catalogue.
Not everyone will appreciate the car's value because it's rooted in its novelty rather than its modernity, speed or the sum of its parts.
Noone will sell you a bone-stock SiR for 300k because 1) there's not many left and 2) those that keep bone-stock SiRs to this day know the value of their cars and also know that there are many people willing to pay way above market price for it.
Noone buys a bone-stock SiR for its performance. Everyone I know who bought one in recent years has bought it for its novelty as a collector's item. It's much cheaper to get an LXi EK body and mod it and you will have a much better track car than a stock SiR, but at the end of the day you still don't have a pristine SiR.
Obviously there are many cars that offer more comfort, performance, or practicality than a stock SiR at its price point. But that's for a totally different market.
It all boils down to how much you value the novelty of the SiR.

Right! It's the novelty and how much you are willing to buy it. In my case, I'd like to buy back the car of my grandfather but it's nowhere to be found. I don't even know exactly what car is it except that we call it "Batman" because of its wing.
I believe it was an 8 cylinder car as I remember my grandmother complaining about fuel. I suddenly remembered that a liter of gasoline was 10 Pesos while diesel was 7. Those were the days when I was "stealing" my mother's car.

Parang old Ferrari lang din na nabenta sa auction na 48million dollars.
There are definitely better cars, but the novelty and prestige of owning such a good looking and rare car is what makes it so desirable for some. Lunacy be damned as dr. d said. Hehe

Fasten your seatbelt! Or else...Driven To Thrill!

kaya nakakatuwa when you beat a civic SiR with a car they totally underestimate like a corolla, sentra, regular lancer (not evo)
