there's no telling what the creature (the pet, not the driver!) will do, under certain un-foreseen extraordinary conditions.

It is all about training. Use a crate or a pet carrier. If your dog is house trained, it can hold for hours until the next stop.

Unfortunately puppy pa yan so like what shadow said... you need a travel crate for your puppy.
