oo nga. and i bet they wouldn't know what to do if they saw a bird flying around the house.

bro di based ka sa palawan? meron pa din ba nagbebenta ng mga parrot and native cockatoos (abukay) dyan? bawal na din kasi ngayon eh so i suppose wala na out in the open.

i remember when i was a kid, my dad used to bring home parrot chicks whenever he was in the field in palawan. sayang iyong mga iyon kasi hindi naalagan kasi bata pa naman din kami. if ever siguro naalagaan , buhay pa din iyong mga iyon kasi those flying critters can live up to 50 years daw.

the last one he brought home was a white cockatoo aka abukay. namatay lang kasi it choked on a piece of a skyflakes cracker. naging urbanized na masyado kaya ayaw na ng mga prutas kaya puro crackers ang pinag-kakain.

Yup, bawal na din yan. Nasa batas na na bawal yan kahit nahuli mo lang sa bakuran mo. Need mo iturn-over sa (in our cases PCSD,Palawan Council for Sustainable Dev't) proper local agency for care or return to the wild.

Under RA 9147, the penalty depends not only on the act committed but also on the conservation status of the wildlife.

The highest penalties are imposed on those guilty of killing critically endangered wildlife—jail term of six years and one day to 12 years and/or payment of fine ranging from P100,000 to P1 million.

For hunting and trading, the penalty ranges from two to four years of imprisonment and/or fine of P30,000 to P300,000 for hunting and P5,000 to P300,000 for trading wildlife.

For the mere transport of wildlife, the penalty is six months to one-year imprisonment and/or P50,000 to P100,000 fine. Dito pasok yung possession of wildlife animals kasi assumption eh nagtransport ka niyan from the wild to your residence. Kaso na-pro-probation lang mga nakakasuhan. Kaya sabi nila maganda taasan yung penalty.

^ never had a mynah bird. Kasi ang kwento dati pag makakita daw ng color red mamatay daw sila instantly. [emoji23]

How about crows? Are they considered to be illegal if you have them as a pet? Dami naman niyan sa bukid.

Afaik crows are not part of the list of wildlife being monitored. Wala din ako alam na ginagawang pet yan kaya baka pwede hehe. Pero better consult with DENR or CENRO in your area.

We used to have a pair of the batobato when we were kids and they would normally "sing" - sounds like a musical hoot on specific hours of the day, like 5am, 4pm etc...

Nowadays I see them everywhere in our village...

The birds have returned in our ecosystem...

You don't want the squirrels in your village, parang mga daga din na sakit sa ulo. Kumalat na pala sa south mga squirrels (tagal na sa Makati)

Sa bahay namin madami bats [emoji33] Sukal kasi ng backyard namin (buti hindi kami nare reklamo)
