I've been thinking that if I were to be a moderator, not that I want to, there's a great possibility that I might make a mistake. In that case, who will check me?
I'm thinking if this applies to video uploaders. Who will check their comments? I have the impression that no one is regulating it. First time for me to spend time in YouTube, some comments are really awful and some comes from the uploader.
And I allowed my sons to be exposed in the online world without me checking on them. Although they are old enough, but there should be check and balance.

In that case, how about YouTube? I saw one comment that his video has been deleted. However, there are some videos that does not violate copyrighted materials but are advocating unruly behaviors and unethical driving practice. Well, this is a rhetorical question.
By the way, I saw just this morning about this topic about you and *popcorn. That guy is funny. If my understanding is right, he is *minicarph. Where is he right now? I'm thinking that perhaps he is the same person as *kagalingan, both of them have funny comments or at least very entertaining for me.
I'm like a kid, I'm easily entertained.

May 21st, 2018 12:18 PM #7365Comments on the internet which border on hate speech as opposed to those being ***ual, violent or "just awful" been the problem since internet and social media became all the rage.
Trouble is, you can't be online all the time to check on your children's activities or the kind of comments they give or are exposed to. The best defense is really a good guidance and values system you have given them.

Thank you. I don't think our moderators will violate the rules here. I'm thinking that YouTube uploaders are the designated moderators in their own right. I believe this is a mistake as pointed out by *KingoftheNorth.
You are correct, no point in worrying about something that is beyond my control. I just didn't realize what the internet is offering to all that has access to it. Sometime ago, back when speed was 56 kbps, someone told me that chatrooms are one of the ways to "get what you want". I never got interested so I don't know what's in there.
So there are news that parents are "pushing their kids to chatting". I may be no different to these parents if I were just to let my two grown-up kids to this kind of world. The best that I can do is remind them tonight as we take our dinner.
Thank you for your clarification.

May 21st, 2018 01:50 PM #7369the (rhetorical) question posed by uls "who will moderate the moderators" is really a good question.
i did ask exactly the same question before.
i think a moderator must not only be impartial but must appear to be impartial.
also, a good moderator shall lead or moderate by example. once upon a time a member here called the attention of a moderator because he violated the rule on non-posting of advertisement. and because it is a dignified position, he or she shall not wash his or her dirty linen in public.
so in cases of flagrant violation of our rules by a moderator, it goes without saying that none but ourselves who shall moderate her or him as the existence of this forum depends on our continued presence here.

May 21st, 2018 02:28 PM #7370Although, we can say they are the designated moderators, you can report the video for abuse. This goes also for people who comment. You can report them as well. There is a drop down menu to do this freely.
I've been a viewer of Amos Yee's controversial youtube videos. Just recently, his channel was taken down by youtube.
