sa tips depende din sa service sa akin. kung mabait at mas malaki. pag sobrang delayed ang service...ala. pag di na serve ang food, di na din ako bumabalik.

    re: treatment sa waiters
am generally courteous. ganun palaki sa akin e. tao din yan. same with our helpers. i avoid being overly familiar with them naman.

In my opinion, most of the waiters and other types of similar staff don't care about their jobs. Most of the time, they either lack training or are not interested in what they're doing making them inefficient. When I ask for a recommendation, the last thing I'd want to hear is that it's the restaurant's best-seller and if I'm dining at an upscale reataurant, I expect the waiters to at least know the food on the menu. I base my tip depending on the level of service they give so if they give me poor service, then I don't give them much.

reminds me of 2 of our officemates na mahilig umorder ng delivery sa fast food. they are demanding (maraming gusto) and generally rude sa delivery hotline operator.
makikisabay sana ako ng pakikibili ng food pero i hesitated. i wonder kung may extra ingredients yun sa nagdeliver.

I am appalled to know that people like this exist. What is the point? It's a big mystery for me why people would choose the path of rudeness when it does not cost anything to be polite.

I extend courtesy to people who are in my service (waiters, security guards, helpers, drivers etc). These people already have less than I do and the least the I can do is not to add to their hardships. These people work hard, they are underpaid and they go home to unpalatable environment. A little kindness goes a long way. There were times that I experienced dissatisfaction with service but I just let it go. I tend to be more patient with workers.

Just yesterday I had my seat covers installed at the casa, when I came to check, I noticed that my engine was running, AC on and doors wide open. This is something that I would not do for myself but I did not blow my fuse and said nothing. But personally I was disgruntled. I just thought that what they were doing was hard work so a little disadvantage on my part was okay.

Would it hurt to tip well. When you establish a good relationship with them, in return they give you excellent service. I really hope people should be more mindful of how they deal with blue collars. It is for the people born with privilege to take the high road.

    Agree!
...And I never argue or raise voice with the waiter.

Common story na yung ibang matataray o maarte sa restaurant na pinapagulong yung ibang pagkain sa lababo bago iserve pag hindi gusto karakas mo ng mga waiter.

We let them wear what they want to wear. We used to have a driver that wears a short sleeved barong (?) so it pretty much looks like a uniform. He said he prefers it that way.

I don't think there's anything degrading about having maids wear uniforms. When did uniforms become derogatory? If it is, would a doctor with their M.D. coats on as mandated by hospital policy be derogatory? Obviously not.

Hell.. when I last visited the house of the patriarch of Consunji, maids nila may frilly uniforms pa. Yun tipong white-and-black uniforms you see much like what the waiters of Antonio's in Tagaytay.

I also don't see anything wrong with uniforms. Heck, if the company I currently work at had uniforms, I'd rather wear that too. In my previous job, it doesn't matter whether you're the MD or the Supervisor as everyone wore the same uniform with the company logo and their last name on it. In my humble opinion, it's better for them to get free clothes rather than they wear down their own clothes since their disposable income is smaller. Subjective post.

I also don't try to antagonize waiters. Not because I am fearfull of the extra ingredient pero as people here say, tao pa rin yan na dapat i-respeto.

Tip depende nga sa pakitungo sa amin. Kung may service charge wala na siyempre.

Re uniform nang yaya. Kapag libre naman at sagot nang may-ari, okay na okay, pabor pa sa maid. Pero kung charge pa sa maid, a big no.

I don't think there's anything subjective here. If you think about it, a uniform isn't derogatory -- from maids, to waiters, to even your neighborhood septic tank cleaner.

It's a work code, a work ethic, a professional attire. I don't know why people even bother to judge. That's like judging your principal that he has uncool taste just because your high school mandated you wear a white shirt and khaki pants. If he was requiring you grow a hair like Elvis Presley then now you can protest since it affects your public image.

At our workplace for instance.. the upper management and sales doesn't really have duty uniforms - we're pretty open here. Dalawa lang naman yun rules: no shorts, no tsinelas. Full-time employees, on the otherhand, has a choice of wearing their uniforms or they can simply go casual. Statistically speaking, more than 90% of the time, they wear their uniforms. And this isn't just your typical off-the-rack SML uniforms, these are actually made-to-measure to their body characteristics and fits them very well.

Ano ba difference ng security guards, maintenance guys, sales ladies, bank clerks, street sweepers, drivers etc. sa maids and yayas? Those who say that maids and/or yayas shouldn't wear uniforms are the one's who are discriminating against them. You are the ones who are actually degrading their nature of work.

I don't require our maids to wear uniforms. I don't require my yaya to wear a uniform. But it was the yaya herself who requested to be issued uniforms. Like one of the post above, mas nahihiya ang yaya kapag sariling damit ang suot nya when going to malls, parties, etc.

Some of you would say that requiring a yaya to wear a uniform in public places is a way for the employers to differentiate them from the yaya. E kahit walang uniform naman siguro yung yaya, halatang yaya pa rin because of the difference in skin color especially if sobrang puti mga amo.

My yaya now doesn't wear uniforms any more. Halos kasing dami na yata ng clothes ng wife ko mga damit nya. Wala naman kaming pakialam if she wants to wear a uniform or not, wala lang akong nakikitang mali in wearing a uniform.
She's been with us for 10yrs already. With her salary (which is not meager btw), she was able to support the studies of her siblings, her nephews and nieces, medicines and hospitalizations of her family. Nakabili sya iPod touch and smartphones. She has her very own room in our house, not in the maid's quarters, but a room in the 2nd floor inside our house.

We don't actually need a yaya anymore for the kids since malalaki na mga anak ko, but one of my sons requires special attention kasi that's why we still employ her as yaya. Gusto nga sana namin ilipat sa office to do office works dahil talagang mapagkakatiwalaan sya. But we need her more at home than in the office.

basta ako naniniwala sa sinabi ng nanay ko, lalo na nung nagbibinata na ako at nagkakagusto na sa babae, "kung gusto mo malaman ang totoong ugali, kausapin mo ang katulong. that's when they let their guards down."

I apply this rule di lang sa waiter but also sa iba pa lalo na yung naggugupit ng buhok ko. Mahirap na baka biglang makalbo ako.
