On a related note to this, there is still some distinction in paying more for value:
- I'd usually buy a branded tire, even if it's a more expensive one, because i expect more returns in terms of safety and longevity as against a cheaper tire.
- I would choose to buy a more expensive, branded pair of shoes (at least the tried and tested brand) as i can use this for many, many years to come. My wife on the other hand used to have a practice of buying cheap shoes for her day-to-day needs and i noticed we end up buying 2-3 replacement pairs in a year or so. Same goes with the handbags.
- With home items (i.e. plumbing items and fittings, etc.), i've also learned to go for some of the pricier fittings as they last longer and saves me PPP in the long run.
We're not talking of the most expensive items but at least ones that give you good value for money, and are tried and tested. The bottomline is, know also where and when to spend for the better things.
