Koby Regalado, a student who witnessed the Tanay incident, said the bus slid down a downward slope and rammed head on to a military vehicle on exhibit where he and other students were taking pictures.

He said some 20 students were already on board the bus when it slid down towards the exhibit.

He added that he saw the bus driver chasing the vehicle to try to stop it from going down the slope, but the incident happened in a matter of seconds.
At the end of the day, we are leaving our sons and daughters to the limited hands of a teachers and tour guide and bus drivers sa field trip.

This incident is screaming of stupidity at kapabayaan ng driver.

    Holy Sh1t!!!!

I guess we need to teach our children to be more mindful of their surroundings as well, especially when out of the classroom. Not to say that the bus driver was not without fault, of course.

Either bumigay ang hand brake or naka-primera lang tapos may gumalaw ng kambyo (pwede ba lumipat to neutral ang truck tranny without stepping on the clutch?).

    RIP

The bus driver stepped out of the bus running on neutral with aircon on.

Actually di raw nakita ng student na nasagasaan, she is busy takung picture of a military vehicle nang tumbukin sya sa likod at naipit between ng military vehicle and bus.

Sad news indeed. Dapat managot ang driver, the bus company, the school is not excused from liability either.

Bus brakes are operated by air, when the handbrake is applied, in an air brake system (truck), a bypass valve sends air pressure to ALL brake wheels. This is also being supported by a mechnical system that locks the brake pad/shoes in place should the system run out of air. In US built trucks, this is the norm. Pag naka lock ang air brakes, hindi talaga gagalaw ang truck, no matter how steep the incline is.

IMHO, this was negligence on part of the driver. Or maybe the bus was not maintained properly. Sad.

    baliktad yata?

air brakes are spring loaded. air pressure is supplied to release, and inversely air pressure is released (the hiss sound when the brakes are applied) to apply the brakes. fail safe kasi ang design nyan. loss of air pressure will not lead to loss of brakes as the brakes are spring loaded. loss of air will lead to inability to release the brakes. well, at least that is how it works on the systems that i worked on.

Something is off with this news. I suspect that, probably, one or some of the kids toyed with the controls of the bus.

Hehe.

Pero dapat talaga thorough inspection of the vehicle to be used, plus, kailangan may ambulansya parati in case...

pero sa ratio pa lang ng teacher to student kakabahan ka na sa safety ng anak mo, how can 2 to 3 teacher take charge of a bus full of naughty rowdy students.
