Binay's statement is simply untrue, from the point of view of Makati's businessmen. Although Binay's supporter base far outnumbers them, the businessmen's taxes are the reason why he can afford to provide his outstanding government service in the first place. When these businesses transfer someplace else, let's see what will become of Binay and his initiatives.
That is pretty much going to happen. A lot of businesses want to transfer to Taguig because of the more business-friendly environment there. Binay loves his RPTIS (real-estate taxation system) but it's sure pissed off the Ayalas, who are the biggest taxpayer in Makati. Of course the Ayalas are pissed because they USED to get away with under-declaring their real property obligations.

IMO - why can't rich people just complain as it is? parang poor vs rich kasi lagi.
I didn't intend for it to sound like that. My point was more of, some of the comments here tend to give the impression that Binay is a useless piece of cr*p who panders to the poor. But the truth is, he's been GOOD to the poor. So he's not exactly a piece of cr*p.

    Hmmm...

Even if he is allegedly corrupt? ;)

If so, we can also apply this to the GMA fiasco right? Let's just say for argument's sake that she did cheat & steal and what have you. So, we forget about all that hooplah and concentrate on improving our economy and in paying our proper taxes (even if we know that some of it will go into somebody's pocket). But despite of all that corruption we were able to improve people's lives by even a bit (heck, some European countries are just as corrupt as ours).

hehe .. siempre naman you don't wear a suit while unloading a truck .. naging fashionista ako bigla .. in anycase .. i live and work in makati .. the yellow card, senior citizens benefits, the makati park and some other stuff that binay did is good .. i wish in QC where my folks live, they have these benefits .. this does not discount, however, that Binay is as corrupt as hell .. and promoting and leading rallies right in the heart of the business district and saying that it is not disruptive is idiotic .. IMO lang naman ..

i do see your points naman sir orly...kaso health insurance is being funded by the taxes he collects. if he manages to alienate business owners so much that they start leaving makati, saan siya kukuha ng pera para sa health insurance?

He might start by charging astronomical fees for traffic offenses.

Human nature lang yan. If it's your personal interest, syempre parating ikaw ang tama. Nagkataon lang na siya rin ang mayor. Yun ang difference.

hehehe... umabot na hanggang batangas ang tax collected from makati.
imho. Baka naman nakainom lang si Binay nang sinabi nya his rally do not disrupt business in Makati.

btw, what can you say sa childish acts ni binay yung palagi niyang hindi pag sunod sa MMDA? bakit pa ba may MMDA kung ang qc at makati eh iba ang rules?

and si BINAY...he is serving those people who are taking advantage of the wealth of Makati which is galing naman doon sa mga corporations na naapektohan ng ginagawa niya. if continue niyang gagawin yan tingnan natin san mapupunta ang yellow card

believe it or not QC is also gonna implement Binay-style traffic laws. Besides the LGU's all hate the MMDA because they think the MMDA is taking powers away from them. hence the TRO on the MMDA which ruled that it doesn't have police powers.

    http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showt...0&page=1&pp=20

the LGU's believe it's an additional source of revenue.

actually, the reason for binay's stunts are many-fold:

    1) as a previous poster said, they can't hakot-rally at EDSA anymore, whilst binay has control of makati and can issue permits whenever he likes

    2) (very important) binay is a strong-arm ward politician. pleases like the -embo's, and the squatter area in san antonio village, hawak niya yan. no need for him to truck in squatters from Agham Road in front of pisay.. (like erap's boys did) kasi meron na siyang supply in his own backyard

    3) (also important) binay sees himself as a "champion of the poor" and has a well-documented dislike/aversion to the "rich makati business club types" explemplified by the ayalas

so all those given together.. it's not surprising that he'd spout any lie to justify the stuff he's pulling off.

sorry about the OT.. pero di lang naman ako ang OT eh hehehehe..

yeah, but you quoted a well respected tsikot moderator who did nothing but reply to a specified topic and used it in a totally off-topic, therefore irrelevant post.

I guess you picked the wrong guy to quote.

the rich & elite of Makati appeases the well-off people of Makati, Binay appeases the poor and marginalized people of makati. it's all part of the game. There is balance.

The powers that be still find Binay useful that's why he still stays in power there.
