Bakit kaya walang double-decker bus sa Manila? Won't this reduce traffic, pollution, and the fare cost? Replace natin lahat ng jeepney with double decker bus (using natural gas). Ang laki din mga ito. Sa tingin ko 1 DD bus is equal to 3 or 4 jeepney.

Yup... double-deckers are too tall to clear many of the obstructions in Manila...

Besides, seeing the way that bus drivers drive... do you REALLY want to see them driving something that tall? Kung ung trailer na sobrang bigat kayang patalbugin ng pinoy na tsuper, paano pa kaya ang magaan na double decker?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

And what will happen to those jeepney drivers who will lose their livelihood?

Is this another thread created to satify "oneself"?

    I give up....

Eh? What's good for the consumer is not always good for the providers... and vice versa... if we replace the jeepney or tricycle with something better and safer, is that wrong?

As much as I would like to see less jeepneys (reckless, dangerous, unsafe) on the street, the existence of alternatives (the FX, the various LRT lines) has done little to reduce the numbers of PUJs on the street.

As it is, all PUV operators (bus, jeepney, FX, taxi, tricycle, pedicab) as suffering from low margins and poor returns precisely because there are too many of them, and because they fit the commuting needs of the populace very poorly (in terms of distribution, availability, scheduling, and such).

I'd rather have a smaller population of vehicles that serve the commuters more efficiently than a dangerous morass of operators who cut corners in terms of safety, maintenance and driver selection (the bloodthirstier, the better... apparently) just to get ahead of the competition.

Jobs lost in one area are better re-dstributed to where they're needed. Progress destroys some jobs, but it often opens up other opportunites for people... sometimes for the better, sometimes not... but always there are alternatives.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
