Great car for mountain runs like Cannonball. It'll give the WRX a run for its money. The WRX might have more grunt overall but the 208 is very nimble. Lots of grip for a front wheel drive car too.

Power is relentless as long as you're within boost, so getting to 200 kph isn't a problem. Clutch is very forgiving and steering is light but communicative. Exhaust has a nice rumble when you first step on it but nothing too noisy. It's actually a decent car at low speeds and everyday driving.

Surprisingly, the suspension feels very sturdy. It glided through meteor craters on Dalton Pass with as much poise as a Forester. If I brought my Jap econoboxes through the same road it'd be rattle-fest.

Space was also quite good for a subcompact. With my normal driving position, you can actual fit 2 people in the back without having to cut their legs off, something that can't be said of the 86/BRZ.

As usual with Euro cars, aircon is weak. The touchscreen head unit also takes a lot of getting used to. It was very difficult navigating through my iPod, and equally as taxing was connecting my phone via Bluetooth. Ah, French quirkiness at its finest.

Overall, an interesting alternative to anyone looking to stand out from the crowd of MX-5s, 86s, and WRXs with a sensible 1.95M price tag.

When i plan for a long drive, i only use an average speed of 40kph.. . 😄
Actually if you maintained a little over 40 kph the entire trip you'd make it within the 12 hour limit. There wasn't much traffic during the run because we started at 2am. We only got caught up behind trucks traversing Dalton Pass but traffic was still generally light so you can overtake them.

Going flat out on Aritao was pretty tiring because there were hardly any straights and you had to clip your apexes to maintain speed. Since I wasn't able to sleep the night before, there were moments that I was beginning to doze off. Losing even just a few percent of concentration totally messed up my line, and that's when I realized how much focus you really needed when pushing a car hard.

The run was open to everyone, with a big bike, car, and small bike category. Entry fee was P4,000 per head.

The route started at Royce Hotel in Clark, with pitstops in Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, and Baguio. You'll have to get your card stamped at each pit stop to ensure that your run is still valid.

This was the course of the run:

Aritao was definitely the most challenging and enjoyable part because of the never ending corners.

Crazy long trip in so short a time.

Congrats jut! That run would've scared the s#t out of me if the route was in Bicol. Too many reckless buses at night.

If the run was done in South Luzon, Raymond buses would finish first. 😂😂😂

Yup, seemed modified. Sidepipes for the exhaust, I would assume that the intercooler has been upgraded too.

Stock Michelin Pilot Exalto tires (205/45R17). Grippy enough with good feedback. Seemingly soft sidewall though since I experienced a blowout after passing through landslide debris.

Heck yea. I've seen them clip apexes with the outer most rear tire of the dual assembly floating on air.

Re: your 208 review, something really to be said about European suspension tuning.

I'm so glad they extended the exchange of old banknotes at banks! I found some old banknotes in my cabinet and I was able to exchange it today. No line din at BPI. I guess I should always go 2 pm on a Monday para walang tao

They did not accept bagong lipunan P5 bills anymore

Great review jut. Must have been an awesome experience. Probably Tanay multiplied by 10.

Thats how you enjoy a manual transmission car.

Tanay is pretty high-speed since it has long sweeping corners. Aritao is much tighter, I could barely take a corner at 60 kph and that's with the GTi already.

It's a fun driving experience and I think I'd like to do it again during daytime so I can enjoy the view.

The throttle controller for my stang really changes the driving characteristics in the city. Dont have to floor it to access all the torque anymore. I can turn it off when i need more linear response. But when i just want easy light footed access to the torque i just switch it on.

    ^ that's exactly what i have

the service booklet, the operating manual, receipts, and the small note book where i record all the repairs and pyesas i have done and replaced were all contained in a translucent plastic envelope. i left it at the sala when i was consulting the manual on how to do some electrical repairs last week. apparently somebody stashed it in a drawer underneath the tv. buti na lang nakita ko before permanently misplacing it
