I hope they gave you a free full tank for the trouble?

they put in what they drained out, then added a few more.
i'm satisfied. i would have settled for liter-for-liter.
honest mistake. had the guy not owned up, i might have ended up stranded on the road, spent considerably more, and it would have been difficult to successfully put the blame on them and get refund for fuel + damages.
if they would bill the errant person, he would have to pay 2000 bucks for the fuel alone.
win-win, relatively, considering the alternative possibilities.

"he who is without fault, may throw the first stone."
in my view,
his footing the gas bill, is punishment enough.
Heard a story once about same incident. The gas station won't pay daw and the cat is already at ₱100k bill sa casa, hindi pa kasama gastos sa commute dahil only car. He is asking for advice.
Ganun ba talaga ka mahal if you run on wrong fuel?

It happened to our family friend din na wrong fuel back in the 90s. I don't remember lang kung naitakbo yung car or na drain agad pero sa gas station inayos. I guess in the 90s it was easier to fix? It was a 90s lancer GL or GLX ata.
older cars are sometimes less sensitive to fuel quality than newer cars are.
the law is somewhat skewed, "in favor of the accused". while the accuser has to provide good evidence; the accused need do nothing.
"better to set the guilty person free, than to punish the innocent."
puede kang i-tiriQ ng sasakyan, stranding you at the side of the road. and we all know how expensive and sometimes difficult, towing services are. especially during the long holidays.
and even if one manages to get his car to the talyer, it will take considerable cogitation and, probably trial and error, to find out that it was just wrong-fuel syndrome. and that all one had to do was to drain the gas tank and put in the correct fuel, that is, if the engine is still fine.
that is why, after everything has been said, i still feel incredibly lucky that the guilty party was decent enough and owned up, before any expen$ive damage can come to pass.
"what better place to drain the contaminated gas tank and replace with the appropriate fuel, than at a gas station?"
heh heh.
i have read that some folks can differentiate diesel from gasoline by the color and/or by the odor...
200K ? sa casa? that's very believable.
a colleague had problems with their ride. casa was charging them 200+ K.
they pulled it out and brought it to a local talyer, whereupon the mekaniko fixed 'er up for considerably much much less.
"so binenta na nyo?"
"hindi pa. grocery getter muna siya."

I wish my old lancer na carb. I am not afraid to tinker with older cars but since my 10th gen, I never open the hood na.

I just learned from Google today that tamarind stimulates uric acid production. I had to go thru 2 vicious attacks before I singled it out.
Why cant we get what they have in the states na hinde compatible ung nozzle ng diesel pump sa gasoline tank and gasoline pump sa diesel tank. Or standardized atleast na pare pareho color ng pump handle sa lahat ng stations for example diesel=green, gas=red para easier din to spot.

Besides fuel type, I always tell the gas guy to make sure not to overfill. Ours are equipped w/ OBD fuel gauge that tells around the amount to fill. 1st click & that's it. The evap system is pricey.
