yep one of my favorite guns. got it new old-stock for 11k steel slide. best .22LR pistol out there. will never trade it for walther/umarex P22 or other pot metal gun

Gathered some of the torches from my EDC and night stand. Sig Equinox has a tlr-1s, Sig P229 Elite has a tlr-4. Nitecore SRT7 and mh1a, Techlite, 4Sevens Preon, Fenix E11 and Victorinox Huntsman lite.


I have Coast, Sunwayman, Maglite and other more scattered everywhere. Just too lazy to bring them out.

On my long guns, I have Surefire, Streamlight and Nitecore.


And of course, my baby has his own too...

Me? Just go to the neighbors. Many of them have guns plus, our homeowners association is very active in keeping order. Also, the sheriff's (or maybe deputy sheriff's) home is only 3 houses down. There's very few outsider traffic here. The fire department is just around the corner.

A few years ago, my mother-in-law fainted and I called 911. Within a minute, 2 cop cars, a firetruck, and an ambulance arrived.

But then, the main reason why militias are there in the borders is because the border patrols aren't exactly doing a good job keeping illegal aliens out.

Part of the discrimination stems from illegal drug smuggling along the borders which is what Mexican drug cartels are notorious for; I think the whole problem wouldn't have exacerbated if it weren't for Operation Fast and Furious.

I have no problems with legit militias. As a veteran/retiree, I've been approached by them before (a friend of a friend of a friend thing), especially considering I'm not exactly an Obama fan. If all they did was report illegals to law enforcement, cool. The thing is, some act like vigilantes and they are the ones pointing the guns. That I have a problem with. It only takes one with a twisted mind to pull the trigger and we're going to have big problems here.

I'm against illegals like many here where I live. But, I also have a humanitarian mind. Unfortunately, many of these militias don't see them as human beings at all. That's why I'm wary of the militias.

As for the druggies, they're starting to move north (eg near the Canadian border in New York where I lived recently). That's why aerial drones have set up shop there.

Speaking of protection. Might as well be a good idea to make a Faraday cage for critical electronic components. There is talk about a 12.5% probability of experiencing so-called Megaflare by 2020. In case you guys are wondering about its implications: Carrington Event

The Earth has a roughly 12 percent chance of experiencing an enormous megaflare erupting from the sun in the next decade. This event could potentially cause trillions of dollars’ worth of damage and take up to a decade to recover from.

Such an extreme event is considered to be relatively rare. The last gigantic solar storm, known as the Carrington Event, occurred more than 150 years ago and was the most powerful such event in recorded history.

That a rival to this event might have a greater than 10 percent chance of happening in the next 10 years was surprising to space physicist Pete Riley, senior scientist at Predictive Science in San Diego, California, who published the estimate in Space Weather on Feb. 23.

“Even if it’s off by a factor of two, that’s a much larger number than I thought,” he said.

Earth’s sun goes through an 11-year cycle of increased and decreased activity. During solar maximum, it’s dotted with many sunspots and enormous magnetic whirlwinds erupt from its surface. Occasionally, these flares burst outward from the sun, spewing a mass of charged particles out into space.

Small solar flares happen quite often whereas very large ones are infrequent, a mathematical distribution known as a power law. Riley was able to estimate the chance of an enormous solar flare by looking at historical databases and calculating the relation between the size and occurrence of solar flares.

The biggest solar event ever seen was the Carrington Event, which occurred on Sept. 1, 1859. That morning, astronomer Richard Carrington watched an enormous solar flare erupt from the sun’s surface, emitting a particle stream at the Earth traveling more than 4 million miles per hour.

When they hit the Earth’s atmosphere, those particles generated the intense ghostly ribbons of light known as auroras. Though typically relegated to the most northerly and southerly parts of the planet, the atmospheric phenomenon reached as far as Cuba, Hawaii, and northern Chile. People in New York City gathered on sidewalks and rooftops to watch “the heavens … arrayed in a drapery more gorgeous than they have been for years,” as The New York Times described it.

There was a significant solar event that occured only last Sept. 10 but the there's not much media buzz about it. I was waiting for something to happen like maybe an electrical snafu, but nada!

Regarding Faraday cage, Amazon sells EMP protection packs. I can't vouch their effectiveness though.

Actually a faraday cage can be as simple as a box enclosure of wire mesh as long as the gaps or holes aren't bigger than 30 cm. But of course, a metal trash bin can be outfitted to do the same for more sensitive devices such as HAM radios or stuff with integrated circuits.
