Fifth Stage is already out. Act 1 and 2 are already out. Act 3 and 4 will be next month na.

Ahh yes, Initial D. Consider me a fan.
I even put some coin in the arcade games for a while - I played the crap out of IDASv3 and IDAS5, which were the best of the series IMHO. The other games weren't so good.
The amazing thing about Initial D is, much of what they discuss in the racing is technically sound - and I realized this when I attended more and more events on the racetrack. The Toudou School guys are correct when they say that braking is the hardest thing to learn, and in extremis, you do turn using proper weight shifting instead of sawing at the wheel. Left-foot braking, a driving skill I never properly learned, does combat understeer in powerful FF cars (but only when done correctly). It was the show that encouraged me to learn throttle-blipping on downshifts, which eventually led to heel-and-toe - although it doesn't tell you that heel-and-toe is best done when under heavy braking, and that doing H&T in daily driving negates much of the smoothness it's supposed to preserve.
Of course some of the key points are exaggerated for the show, but almost all of them apply in real life. The closeness of the racing can be pretty ridiculous and dangerous in reality, though.
My main concern with Initial D is that its fans are beginning to forget the whole point of the anime - it's not the car, it's the driver.
Also, the whole undefeated streak thing is a little corny after so many episodes. If you've watched "Capeta," which is an anime on kart racing, it's just as satisfying without having to resort to cheesy plot devices as "undefeated streaks."
Initial D is definitely on the top of my list of favorite animes, probably even surpassing Rurouni Kenshin.
For one, the show actually makes sense. It has way more realism than all the Fast and the Furious movies combined, and I like that it operates under the premise that it's more about technique than power. And tacky as it seems, I actually like the fact that Takumi remains undefeated. I hate animes wherein the main character always starts off as a pushover (which is why I also like RK, and why I hate Naruto and everything like it).
But I think that the best part about the show is that it actually gets you excited. Maybe it's just me, but I get all giddy whenever Takumi does his thing. Best moment of the show for me was the blind attack on the pro driver in the 4th Stage - the timing, the music, the dialogue, and the overall feel just makes it a very involving thing to watch.
What I like about the 5th Stage is the much improved graphics. It's a bit weird though that the characters barely look like their 1st-4th Stage counterparts, but I'll get used to it. What bothers me is that they seem to have forced Takumi to have a love life. The entry of Mika seemed too tacky, but then again, the romance takes a backseat to the racing so it's fine.
And it give me goosebumps when Takumi races and how he overtakes his rivals. Kahit nga ulit-ulitin ko panonood from 1st to 5th stage eh hindi nakakasawa. I watched the first four stages three times already. Most anime kasi eh may mga super powers pero Initial D, it's just very natural ang dating.
Sa ending nga sabi ni Reina doon sa last part, "I'll keep chasing you wherever you will go".
