MANILA - The Department of Trade and Industry's Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (DTI-FTEB) on Thursday filed formal charges against nine establishments in Quezon City for allegedly selling automotive batteries and tires and lighters without the proper clearance.

DTI said 110 pieces of lead-acid automotive batteries and pneumatic tires amounting to P552,762 were being sold without the required Philippine Standard (PS)/Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) mark and other labels.

These shops include Mercury Battery Industries, Inc.; Four L's Corporation; Tyrepro Banawe Inc.; Jawe Marketing; Kar Motion Tires, Batteries and Accessories; MJM Auto Care Center; LP Herrera Tire Supply; and, Trade.com.ph Corporation.

A total of 145 pieces of disposable lighters without the PS or ICC mark were also found at the Ever Plus Store, Inc.

The DTI-FTEB enforcement teams conducted their inspections on June 28 to July 4, 2016 in 70 automotive supplies establishments in the National Capital Region. -- Report from Alvin Elchico, ABS-CBN News

Well, if Amaron is unlicensed, I sure am gonna buy one more after mine's still working even with the insane amount of wattage on tap in my trunk

If smuggled they should get the importer, not the dealers. Markup on tires and batteries is so small. Kawawa naman.

For all we know they (dealers) could be the smugglers themselves.

Don't know about the others, but Tyrepro outlets are franchises of sorts for Goodyear. Definitely not an importer.
