30 Essential Things You Should Keep in Your Car

Some of us keep absolutely nothing in our car trunks, while others have enough packed to live in their cars for weeks. Somewhere in between is this list of thirty things we think every car owner should always have on hand.P

You can buy packaged emergency safety kits, like this $35 one from AAA, which includes a booster cable, flashlight, first aid kit, and many other items, but the DIY approach is more satisfying and you probably already have many of these items lying around. It's not just about emergencies or safety, either. Below I've separated the checklists by category.P

There's nothing like breaking down at the side of the road and realizing the spare tire in your trunk has a flat from the last time it happened. (True story.) To keep you up and running, keep these in your trunk:P

I'm covered except for the tire infalter/gauge, portable radio, blanket, EWD, WD40, car charger, duct tape and Seat belt cutter and window breaker - I don't think this is essential for me anyway.

Car windows are harder to break than most people think.

Wala kang EWD? Needed kaya ang EWD lalo na pag nasiraan ka sa gabi.

Ako, basta may toolbox ako with complete set of basic tools (pliers, cutter, wrenches, screwdrivers), EWD, jack, then I'm good to go.

the car i bought new didn't come with EWD's.

    let's see... here's what i got:
basic tools, jack, spare tire, canvass tarpaulin, pail na may cover, tabo, ice chest, rain poncho, a ball of straw rope, cable ties, blade type cutter, can opener, 5-liter drinking water container, umbrella, feather duster, pillows and many more but couldn't recall.

and i made it all fit at the back of a small hatch. ;D

Some of the stuff I have in my car aside the standard toolkit are:

    - jumper cables
    - tow cable
    - car rags
    - two collapsible road cones (in place of warning triangles)
    - one roll of duct tape
    - flashlight (with fresh batteries)
    - pocket knife (swiss army knife covers most of the "etc" tools)
    - mobile phone car charger with USB port
    - umbrellas
    - a couple of raincoats (poncho style) in bright yellow color

RE. tools, unless you have a break-down prone car or enjoy wrenching and abubot just about anywhere, most can do well with a cross wrench, screwdrivers (flatnose + philips, long and short), an 8, 10, and 12 wrench, and pliers. A t-wrench (size 8 and 10) are also quite useful buggers.

    :hammer:
