LONDON (Reuters) - A Mercedes Benz which for years was kept in a farm building has become the second most expensive car in the world after it sold for 4.1 million pounds.
The two-seater sports car, made in 1929, was sold to an anonymous buyer at an auction at Goodwood on Friday.
It was one of several cars owned by George Milligen, a private collector who died this year after amassing a collection of vintage cars on his farm in Norfork.
He bought it for a few hundred pounds in 1941, at the height of World War Two, when almost no one in Britain would buy a German car.
The Mercedes Benz SKK was one of only 36 ever made.
The world's most expensive car remains a 1930 Bugatti Type 41 Royale, one of only six made, which sold at auction in 1987 for 5.5 million pounds.

The Bugatti
The Benz
The Mercedes-Benz 38/250 SKK, powered by a 7.1-litre engine, was one of only 36 ever made. In 1929, the SKK model was hailed as the fastest racing car in the world. 1929 was the year the stock market crashed. It was also the year that the Graf Zeppelin circled the world in 448 hours.

Terribly sorry, the correct spec for the Bugatti is...
"The powerplant of this 3-1/2 ton masterpiece of engineering is a 13 liter straight-eight with a single overhead cam. The result is 300bhp. All of which is desperately needed to move the chassis and its 170" (tad over 14 feet) wheelbase. In comparison, the largest Cadillac chassis that I know of is the 1932 Fleetwood Special that rode on a 165" wheelbase and was powered by a paltry 165bhp V16. Nothing like cubic inches to motivate a couple of tons of elegance."
Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
