May 190D, pero I'd assume the engine will be really slow... Usual "assumptions" sa MB is that diesel engines are really bullet proof, pag gas dapat alaga.

Mas common ang 190E no doubt, but depende sa variant kasi yan kung ano makina if you're asking about pricing. Unlike other variants ng Benz, 190E doesn't necessarily have a 1.9L engine, may 2.3 din pero 190E padin tawag...

Rare ang diesel versions ng 190 body... the 190E is can be found on the used car market with varying prices depending on the condition most likely.

It had a 2.3 and 2.6 6 cyclinder engine amongst some if i recall it right.

Honestly, may experience ka na ba sa older german cars and will this be your daily ride?

if you're a relative newbie sa german, and you'll need this as a daily car, you MUST get a good unit and expect to pay a premium.

these cars, if well taken care off are very reliable but are a pain to maintain compared to japanese cars.

    1) Not all shops know anything about fixing german cars, have proper tools etc.
    2) Shops that do will charge a premium.
    3) Parts relatively are more expensive and are harder to find (mga butingting parts)

You really must get a good unit to start with unless you're trying to have a project car to spend a lot of moolah on.

just follow what your heart desires. given na naman yun mahal i-maintain these types of cars pero if you love as much to own one like this, you'll find cheaper ways to maintain it.

The 190D is really slow... Expensive to maintain (compared to Japs)... No objective advantage to buying one... Subjectively, you have a German car.

perhaps an E34 5 series would be a better choice if you really want a german car

Kung 190e versus E30 or E36 BMW, what would be the more relatively easier and affordable unit to maintain and recondition?

If i recall it right, sila Glennster had a 190e before and they had some problems with it (but i think it was because of how the previous owner maintained it).

If you're set on getting one then take the time to really look for a good unit to begin with. If not, you can also look into another Jap 2.0 sedan

As said, body code W201 siya. The first 'baby Benz'. 190 D is not that common but may mga units din naman. I'm not sure of the engine code. Madami din kasing engine ang W201 na diesel.

Spare parts is not a problem. Even my 1977 has plenty o' parts and you'd be surprised how much parts they have for a 60's Benz nowadays. Yun nga lang, may premium for trim and body parts. Sa engine consumables walang problema. Oil fiter Php500, diesel pre-filter Php100, mineral oil lang ang kailangan, etc. Pero huwag ka, the whole interior (upholstery, carpet, doorpanels, pillars, parcel shelf, headliner) was redone by a tabi-tabi shop for only Php 15,000.00, siguro isang leather seat lang ng Fortuner iyon).

But do expect it to be slower and to have some visible particulate emissions. Ganun talaga kasi diesel siya and an old one at that.

Overheating was common to 190E's before they started sharing the W124's 2.3 fuel injected engines, hence the term 190E 2.3 [and subsequently, 190E 2.6].

One thing I don't like about W201's is the very tight rear accomodations. Mas maluwag pa ang rear seat ng mga 5 door hatches [e.g. Kia Pride]. But keep the car in good condition and pwede mo pa iyang ipamana sa mga anak mo.
