Same here. The kids have pretty much “invaded” the TV.

Comedy talaga yang si Brendan Fraser, I liked him from the Mummy and Blast from the Past pati yung partner niya sa Bedazzled (EH)

    Shallow Hal on cable

One of the movies I could watch over and over and not get tired of.

Wild Wild West (1999) on TV last week.

Interesting idea (steampunk secret agent western based on a TV show) + talented actors (Will Smith, Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh) + director of Men In Black (Barry Sonnenfeld) + awful script = bad movie.

    Dunkrik (2017) on Blu-ray.

Critically acclaimed pero I found it boring. They should have made it like a classic war movie with the fighting starting inland, then moving to the beach and climaxing with a harrowing evacuation. In other words, they should have made it like a reverse Saving Private Ryan.

    Get Out (2017) on Blu-ray.

Another critically acclaimed movie that I couldn't appreciate. I don't get the basic premise of the movie about race and why the white people want to do that.

War for Planet of the Apes (2017) on Blu-ray.

They should have titled this as Prison Break of the Apes. I was expecting an epic Lord of the Rings style war between apes and humans. There's no war, just a skirmish in the beginning and a human vs. human battle near the end.

    Here's a better story:

The apes set up a country of their own but the humans won't allow it. Human military invade the ape country. The apes fight back using querrilla warfare. The apes are defeated.

Guerrilla ape fighter leader Andres vows armed rebellion. Jose the Ape advocates woking within the human system. Andres is killed by fellow apes. Humans execute Jose by firing squad.

Humans introduce democracy to ape country. Manuel the Ape becomes president and dreams of independence for ape country, saying, "It is better for ape country to be run like hell by apes than to be run like heaven by humans."

Black Panther. Don't know how they do it, but no duds yet. Another winner from Marvel.

Black Panther was awesome. The first socially relevant Marvel film.

I loved how a juggernaut studio used its influence to reach a very wide audience with a very timely message.

I loved how the Wakandans shifted from their "us-first" policy to a "we are one big tribe" stance by the end of the film.

I loved how they showed that just because you've been oppressed doesn't mean that you become an oppressor yourself should you find yourself in power. This message should reach the new set of elites running the country - just because you were forgotten by "Imperial Manila" doesn't mean you should be vindictive now because you're in power.
