Watched this last sat out of curiosity, since I've been bombarded wherever I go about it's epicness.

I'm a war movie nut, I was expecting a Gladiator, Saving Private, The Patriot or even Braveheart type of battle scenes. Medyo konti pa para talagang epic. Although it's a giant leap from the last pinoy action movie I watched.

As for the flow of the story, yep angat sa naka gisnan kong Pinoy movies of yesteryears.

    Ok na rin!

haven't watched it, but sabi ng kapatid ko maganda raw.

It's such a shame, all this time we've been bellyaching about the lack of "quality" local movies, and when one comes along, pinaikli pa yung runtime niya sa local movie houses.

Hehe.

I don't watch Filipino movies because of the poor quality and cheesiness of the stories. I made an exception for this since my kids were curious. Although its still rough at the edges, the story and quality has greatly improved. Well written and played by the actors. Worthy to be in the Oscars.

But its the moral of the story that really bites. Its a reality check for Filipinos. As General Luna has said that in all the battlefields he went, the worst enemies of the Filipinos were Filipinos themselves.

While watching those scenes, I cant help but think na, putcha parang ganun na ganun parin ngayon..definitely wala parin pinagbago ang mga pinoy.

My thoughts even wandered to, what if China invades us or is this how we fight our enemies in the south..wow parang I can see current politicians doin the exact same sh*t. Indecisive leaders, military officials leaving their posts/fronts just to attend parties, businessmen striking secret deals with the enemy, while the ordinary soldiers die in the field.

    Kakaasar

Mga anak ko nanood. Sinabihan sila ng school nila to go & watch the movie. Discounted sila. P80 lang for students.

Kaya dapat Fall - Rise and Fall ni Antonio Luna

In history each and every character has a dark side, ganyan talaga ang buhay.

Probably antonio held a grudge with rizal over an altercation with a lady they were both enamored with

During their stay in europe Antonio was drunk and blurted some unsavory words about the lady. When jose learned about the things antonio had to say about the lady rizal challenged luna to a duel to which the latter declined and apologized. This incident can be viewed as cowardice on the side of luna or his unwillingness to kill a compatriot over a lady

There are two sides of a coin. One thing rizal & antonio luna had in common then, that we are better off under spain. Opting for reform rather than independence.

But when the revolution took the country by storm, the fire of the revolution galvanized luna to take arms for the country. At the prodding of aguinaldo put his knowledge in military science to good use. The winds of change has blown and the young nation was born together with the desire of his compatriots to be FREE

Ready or not the revolutionaries took up arms and engaged the spanish colonizers in a lethal duel in the battle fields banking on their collective desire for self determination

In the same effect the movie doesnt intentend to glorify antonio but to promote self reflection (learn from history) & patriotism (love of country) which we unfortunately still lack after more than a century of independence from spain

Watched EB just a while ago. Guess what, walang nakasagot sa contestants.

    Oh Spoliarium and Parisian Life.

Meron bang taong walang dark side? Lahat naman sila meron. But it doesn't discount the fact that they died for the country, in quite a literal manner.
