Source: Not guilty, says tobacco exec

Manila, Philippines -- A tobacco firm executive accused of manhandling and verbally abusing a traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) during a traffic dispute more than a year ago pleaded "not guilty" to the charges of direct assault upon an agent of authority during yesterday's arraignment at a Quezon City court.
Accused Robert Blair Carabuena entered the plea before Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 42 Judge Juris Dilinila-Callanta.
The case stemmed from the complaint filed by MMDA traffic constable Saturnino Fabros, who was allegedly assaulted by the respondent in an incident in Quezon City on Aug. 11, 2012.
A TV 5 crew who happened to be in the area captured the incident on tape, which went viral on the Internet where the video showed Carabuena berating and physically assaulting Fabros after the former was accosted for traffic violation.
The arraignment of the case, which was filed on October 2012, was postponed at least three times. It was again rescheduled yesterday after the court denied the motion to quash filed by the motorist.
Fabros, after the arraignment, said he was happy that the case is moving. adding that he will push through with the case even though he forgave Carabuena for what he did.

Baka inuuto lang siya ng abugado -- no case means no kita. imho, he's digging himself even deeper into a hole he got himself into. Di ba me factor yung guilty/not guilty plea sa sentencing?

a not guilty plea gives the defendant more time to settle with the victim. pag guilty plea, kulong na kaagad yan eh. ganun cguro ang strategy.
