MANILA, Philippines—Former TV host Pepe Pimentel was found dead inside their house in Quezon City Thursday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Marcelino Pedroso of the Quezon City police said Pimentel, 82, was found dead with a wound to his head inside the bathroom of their house at No. 37 Scout Tuazon, Barangay (village) Laging Handa in Quezon City around 10:30 a.m.
Initial investigation revealed that Pimentel took a bath, but did not come out of the bathroom after some 30 minutes, prompting his wife and house helper to open the door.
“May sugat s’ya sa ulo,” Pedroso said, but investigators have yet to determine whether he simply slipped on the floor as he was taking a bath, or he suffered a heart attack.
The case has been placed for further investigation.
Pimentel’s body was cremated immediately and the ashes will be taken to the Pinaglabanan Church in San Juan City later in the day, radio reports said.
Pimentel was a game show host of “Kwarta o Kahon” that lasted for over three decades on television.

January 25th, 2013 01:21 AM #2I have vague memories of Pepe Pimentel but I've always known that he was an icon. After all, kuwarta o kahon was one of the longest running shows on television.
I wish game shows/variety shows will give tribute to Pepe Pimentel. He deserves it.

I can still remember Tito Pepe making funny faces.
Apat pa lang yata ang istasyon ng tv: channels 2, 7, 9 and 13.
and BBC also stands for Big Beautiful Country...
Those were the times that game shows are really "honest-to-goodness"...
Oh well... RIP Tito Pepe...

What I remember most about him, aside from his long stint in showbusiness, was that he was often featured in news stories helping out other motorists who were stranded on the road due to car trouble.
Kahit bumabagyo, or katirikan ng araw, he would stop and help out the motorist change his tire, give it a push or what-have-you. Kahit na luma ang sasakyan, talagang tinigilan niya para tumulong. Madalas nga, sinasabi ng motoristang natulungan niya na hindi nila akalain na tutulungan sila ng isang Pepe Pimentel. At that time, I thought, he must really be a good man,
Am sure he's in heaven now.
