One factor is that AI is a competition for performers... and that's what they're getting... now, if this competition included song-writing, that'd be a different story.

It's not very easy to sell an album until you come up with original material... and even with that, it's a rather hit-or-miss affair.

That the albums are selling, at the very least, means that they are successful. There are thousands of signed acts in the US with albums out, and many of them, even if they get radio play as far away as the Philippines, are happy merely to get gold status.

IMAGE is an important part of AMERICAN IDOL.image consitutes alot sa pagiging isang IDOL.i cannot see any idol material kay taylor.with the gray hair and old looks...duh.he can entertain...yes.but overall...nah.i dont think maraming bibili ng albums nyah kung ipoproduce ko ito.

kung sa entertainment value lang...si taylor.kung sa kantahan, CHRIS should've won.kung sa overall..si katherine =) may boses naman. may image na madaling imarket.

remember that american idol isn't just about singing as what most of us believe.
