MANILA - The publisher of FHM is suspending the magazine's publication after more than 30 years in circulation, it was announced on Tuesday.

In a statement posted on its website, Bauer Media explained that "over time young men's media habits have continually moved towards mobile and social."

A report from The Guardian revealed that FHM's circulation fell to less than 67,000 for the first six months of 2015, or 20 percent less than that of the year before.

The Facebook page of FHM issued its own statement, saying: "Unfortunately it's true: it has been announced today the intention to suspend publication of FHM."

"It's been an absolute joy producing the magazine over the years. Thank you for all your support - we will keep you updated with developments over the coming weeks," it added.

Bauer Media also announced that it is suspending publication of a similar magazine called Zoo, which was launched back in 2004.

First published as "For Him Magazine" in 1985, FHM dominated the men's market during the 1990s and went on to launch a series of international editions. It is perhaps best known for its "100 ***iest Women in the World" list.

FHM Philippines has yet to release a statement on the matter.

So will Playboy. Playboy will also cease publication. Reason is the internet makes it so easy to get your daily **** fix. Probably sales were dwindling.

    Bawal.

Fat chance of that happening. In the last survey, FHM had 71% of the local Men's magazine market. The only mag that came close was Men's Health, which is also a Summit title.

If I recall right, FHM is trading in the 15k copies per month zone. That's tiny compared to the 67k per month of FHM USA, but given how much cheaper it is to print a magazine here, that's more than enough. Most local magazines only sell 1-5k per month, and they're still going, thanks to advertising.

Whereas with FHM, it's a big cash cow for Summit Media, given that Summit won't publish a magazine that can't pay for itself in sales... which FHM does. And then add on top of that advertising and web advertising revenue. Cha-ching.

Top Gear, btw, is at 69%... but that was in the last survey, which included Autocar... which went tits up. They got by on name recognition for a while, but issues with the publisher (which also does Playboy Philippines) have killed it. I don't know who's running it now or if they're still going to put out new issues, but without the "oldies" from the previous editorship, who had all the industry connections, I don't know how they'll fare.

Used to be 78-22 TGP to C!, which, given TGP trades in the 15k zone, puts C! at around 3-4k (but they have deep pockets and rich advertisers).
