Just got a copy of the latest C! Magazine (September). And I have to say that their write-ups is really improving! A very good example is the Porsche 997 article!

Am split over the comparos. The 2.0L c-class comparo is a bit more comprehensive (though I would have loved a track comparison). While the m-class comparo (save for the Accord's article) is a bit wanting (the articles are too short!).

By the way, three of our forumers have already been featured as letter of the month!

    ian_rex - July 2004
    nicky - August 2004
    carlocaraddict - September 2004

Yes, they've improved. Looks like the competition is really giving them added incentive.

I still think they should improve on the photos in their magazines. How about full blow-up pictures of the dashboard, passenger cabin, interior features, etc? They can do it for the external features of the car naman eh.

I think they concentrate quite a bit of their picture space to the "money" shots and poster shots of the cars. It would be nice if they had bigger interior shots, also shot from the same angle (para ma-kumpara), but with the sheer number of photos per piece (you can tell they all love to take pics of cars), I doubt it will be easy for them to enlarge any more of them.

Am happy with the mega-comparo-cum-articles on the major players in the industry... too bad the info sheets are incomplete! They should have at least kept a common format. But I'm not surprised that they couldn't fill out some of the info. Nissan has been very coy about the weight of the Sentra ever since the standard 1.6s passed 1200 kg (the 180GT may weigh as much as 1300 kg). Honda flatly refuses to quote an accurate 0-60 time for the Civic 2.0 (under eleven daw! more like 9 flat!), and the RS's numbers are a bit slow for a sports variant, and different test models have gotten different results (in other words... driver na lang yun).

I'm hoping they can fill in the data as time goes on!

At least they gave a definite opinion on which cars were best.... loved the road trip articles, also... makes me want to go out and drive!

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

i still feel the magazine wants to please all the carmakers. it's always careful about criticising any car. i feel the reviews are too tame, like every car in the market is a good buy.

the asean version of Autocar is much better. though the magazine is targetted mostly to singaporean and malaysian markets, the cars we have here are featured there too, and the reviews are more accurate and fearless.

Actually, I have a word for acidic motor writers... spoiled

C! Magazine may have that please-everyone mien, but if you can honestly find nothing wrong with a car, why put it down? Many foreign motor journalists put down cars because they're too slow, lacking in dynamics, lacking in comfort... but these are things you don't expect from certain cars... you certainly don't expect it of the Kia KC270...

Maybe we Filipinos are too easy to please? We have spent so long riding around on jeepneys, death-trap taxicabs, and hand-welded cardboard buses, that we honestly couldn't find fault with the worst of lemons... basta... it has four wheels and runs... no problem! :D :D :D

oops, mazdamazda correction. June 2004 pala ako, i got confused kasi July ko nakuha yung gift. anyway, beats the other car magazine ha. we'll see kasi bago palang sila. medyo kulang pa rin ang C! kasi wala silang Q&A re troubleshooting.

tama si mk. ako naghahanap ako ng mga back issues mula nung start hanggang January 2004.

as i recall from their editorials that one car manufacturer already got irked with them. hehe.

try reading more thoroughly and you'll find their critiques of a said car. like for the lynx rs - i think they were able to point out that following: not so space efficient, odd sounding muffler, unsupportive seats (in the track that is). for the optra - they also pointed out that it was a gas guzzler (as of the moment) and it has some tranny problems.

IMO. almost all cars out there are good buys. it just all boils down to your priorities in buying a car.

They (C! editors) printed a letter from Gene Orejana (ABS-CBN broadcast journalist) regarding his experience with his Pajero. It detailed his bad experience with his ride and MMC was unable to repair the defects.

MMC responded in kind in the following issue. Wala naman comment na ang C!
