    In no particular order:

    Neon Genesis Evangelion

When a scientific expedition in the year 2000 discovers a mysterious giant of light in Antarctica, efforts to contain it result in a cataclysmic explosion that drowns half of the Earth's surface. Fifteen years later, Earth's surviving population are pitted in a battle for evolutionary survival against beings known only as Angels. A special government agency provides the last hope for the human race: the awe-inspiring living machines called Evangelions. This anime is teeming with religious and psychological references.

    Cyborg 009

Black Ghost is an international consortium whose main business is the propagation of warfare across the globe. When they plan to extend their business scope to outer space as well, they abduct and surgically augment nine individuals from different eras and nations, engineering them to become super soldiers. The nine captives eventually escape their captors and fight their plans, while struggling to rediscover their lost humanity. Created by the late Shotaro Ishinomori, father of the Kamen Rider (Mask Rider) series. One of the first anime series with an overtly anti-war theme at its core.

    Ghost In The Shell:Standalone Complex

In a world increasingly influenced by technology and rapid information exchange, cyber-crimes are commonplace. To combat it, the government relies on Public Peace Section 9, headed by Maj. Motoko Kusanagi, herself a specially enhanced cyborg.

    Mobile Suit Gundam

A space drama of epic proportions that became one of Japan's most successful anime franchises. In the year UC 0079, the human race has been divided, with around half of the Earth's population residing in space colonies. War ensues between the Earth Federal Forces and the rogue colonies as the latter fight for independence. As the Federal Forces suffer tremendous losses due to the colonies' advanced humanoid weapons called mobile suits, they take advantage of a temporary stalemate to launch their own mobile suit program and turn the tide of battle. Beyond dazzling displays of weaponry and technological supremacy, MSG presents the hard realities of war and the often tragic cost of attaining peace.

    Taiho Shichauzo (You're Under Arrest)

Based on the manga of the same name. Follow the day-to-day adventures of Miyuki Kobayakawa, Tsujimoto Natsumi and the rest of the Tokyo Police Department's Bokuto Traffic Station as they apprehend erring motorists, foil terrorist attacks and generally make Tokyo City safe for everyone. Highly recommended for all PNP-TMG and MMDA personnel.

    Gatekeepers

Set in 1969 Japan, a special group of teenagers has been assembled by an international agency to fight mysterious malevolent beings known only as the Invader. These teenagers are called Gatekeepers, with the power to open the 'gate' that separates the Invader's dimension from our own, and this ability enables them to defeat the Invader threat on numerous occasions.

    Cowboy Bebop

Spike Spiegel and Jet Black make the rounds of the known solar system as 'cowboys' (bounty hunters), seeking out criminals for a living using their ship, the Bebop. Along the way, they pick up Faye Valentine (a ***y pilot with a gambling problem), cyber whiz kid Edward (actually a girl) and Ein, a brainy Welsh Corgi.

    Cowboy Bebop The Movie

Spike, Jet and company come face-to-face with their deadliest adversary ever: a bio-terrorist named Vincent. The movie is a prime example of life imitating art, depicting certain events that have been associated with the September 11, 2001 attacks and the subsequent anthrax scare, even though it was produced prior to these events.

    Chobits

Hideki is an 18 year-old simpleton from Hokkaido province who travels to Tokyo to continue his studies. On his first day in the city, he finds an abandoned persocon (female android) in a garbage dump. As persocons were expensive and he had very little money, he rejoiced at finding one for free and promptly took it back to his apartment. After much fussing, he manages to activate it, only to find that it can only say 'chii' and that it has no OS with which to run. Hideki decides to name the persocon Chii, unaware that this particular unit belongs to a special class of persocons called Chobits, who are able to think and decide for themselves.

    Ranma 1/2

Another riotous anime series. Genma Saotome is training his son Ranma in the martial arts, going as far as China to test their skills. A sparring practice in the hot springs of Jyusenkyo ends in Ranma and Genma falling into the cursed pools, turning the former into a girl and the latter into a giant panda. They revert to their normal forms when splashed with hot water, but cold water brings them back to their cursed versions. Further complicating matters is the fact that Ranma is "engaged" to Soun Tendo's youngest daughter Akane, Soun being an old friend of Genma's.

Macross: Do you remember love? (movie)

a retelling of the events in the TV series. although made in 1984, i gotta say, this still holds up in terms of visual quality and still looks very pretty. anyway...

the story picks up with the macross flung off to the far edge of the solar system. they fight their way back home and upon reaching earth, discover that their enemies had already razed earth, technically making them the only survivors. they also discover the alien race which created their enemies and also gave their ancestors an evolutionary helping hand. eventually, it's still the power of Minmay's song (and lyrics from an alien data disk they found on an alien colony ship/starship sunk on earth's ocean which resurfaced after the attack on earth) that saves the day.

    Macross Flashback 2012 (short movie)

this follows the events after the 1st space war as told in the movie. a collection of music videos, it shows sdf-2 megaroad leaving earth with majority of the main characters, in search of new places to inhabit. this has got the best macross song of them all, IMO, "tenshi no enogude" or "colors of an angel". this is also the last time they'll be seen again.

Macross Plus (OAV and movie version)

3 childhood friends separated by a tragic incident inadvertedly cross paths again on new eden, a colony far from earth. one of them is a hothead and newly-assigned test pilot for a prototype variable fighter vying for the military's funding. he was apparently too much even for soldier duty, thus the reassignment. one of them is also a test pilot for another prototype variable fighter. and the other one who once aspired to be a singer, is now happy and content to be a manager of a virtual idol. while their paths meet again, trouble is brewing from both within the military and even from the virtual idol's camp, thus entangling everyone and even forcing a showdown between the idol-controlled (more like hijacked) SDF-1 macross and the hothead's prototype fighter. of course, it's the manager's old song which tips the scales in the protagonist's favor.

    Macross 7 (tv series)

a story about one colonization fleet named macross 7 and their encounters with an alien race near the center of the galaxy. a more humorous look at macross, it introduces using song energy/spiritia as a weapon to fight those aliens after normal weapons prove ineffective. this is also the series where they create a squad using only song energy as the rallying point of the whole series.

Macross 7: The galaxy is calling me! (short movie)

set a bit after the series, this shows the misadventures of fire bomber's lead singer as he investigates a strong source of sound energy/spiritia, leading him to an icy planet with a meltrandi who loves singing.

    Macross 7: Dynamite (OAV)

again, another story about fire bomber's lead singer, he this time encounters space poachers and "space whales". i haven't finished this one yet so i can't comment fully. hehehe.

Macross II: Lovers again (OAV and movie version)

an alternate universe to the macross series, this showss an even more powerful enemy who proves immune to human song as they have their own song, only this time their enemy's songs are songs for war. eventually the humans still win, because one enemy emulator was influenced by the power of love.

i hate this series personally as the SDF-1 gets blown up.

    Macross Zero (OAV)

this is set a year before the events in the TV series. the presence of an alien object split into 2 parts is detected near the Mayan islands and both the UN and anti-UN forces investigate, believing that whoever controls both objects will control their conflict. eventually, they discover that this alien object is more than just the one seen in multiple paintings found all over the Mayan people's art, and when reunited, it shows the bird human and its purpose.

this has got the best mecha designs so far and CG works, as everything is in CG except for the characters. some of the best fight scenes as well, like shinn and nora's duel in the 5th OAV.

Ghost in the Shell: Innocence (movie)

this is about gynoids going amuck and killing their owners. gynoids, btw, are androids created only for ***, the 1st of their kind. again, this takes bateau, kusanagi, and the section 9 into a rather good mess while they again ponder a lot of philosophical stuff.

great CG and i liked bateau's assault on the gynoid sub. lupit. :D

    Orguss 02 (OAV)

you'd actually need to watch the original Orguss as well to get a better background on this. anyway, it's about 2 warring kingdoms who use excavated war machines called "decimators" to wage their wars. apparently, this world is a collage of 4 worlds accidentally "meshed" together by a space-time oscillation bomb which was set off in the original Orguss series. while the 2 kingdom's continuous war leads to a showdown between each kingdom's huge decimator, a cyborg from the world which created the excavated decimators seeks to right what their world did wrong and fixes the space-time oscillation bomb to put these 4 worlds back together in their original state. the cyborg succeeds in the end, aided by a native of the current planet and a girl who was a descendant of an alien race from another world.

basically, everything that didn't belong to each world vanished in the end and were returned to where they were supposed to be, including the cyborg and the decimators, and the alien girl. the decimators would still be invented by the people in the future...but in the meantime, peace takes over after the conflict in the meantime.
