Yeah. Buti na lang i didn't get the 2016.5 CX-5 diesel because since the 2016.5 is technically still the first gen, Mazda made lots of improvements in my 2nd gen. Ride, suspension, NVH, color [emoji16], regen cycle etc. Glad to be onboard. [emoji847]

Yes, this is true. Unfortunately, my father didn't try to drive this Mazda 6 so he has no idea what this car can offer.

Recently I learned from my younger brother that my father will sell his Santa Fe and buy the new Santa Fe. I'd like him to consider the CX-9, but I later found out during my visit at Mazda that it's only available in gasoline variant (he's a fan of diesel engines). So the next vehicle to consider is CX-5. Perhaps we'll see each other this week or next week and I'll give him the brochures.

Let him try the CX9....there's nothing like it. The torque & efficiency of a turbo D from a petrol engine.....Even my Bimmer buds are impressed.[emoji4]

I also considered Sta. Fe. I didn't get to test drive it na because the interior and accessories turned me off na agad for a P1.8M vehicle. The Tucson's interior is by far better. It is roomier pero parang for me, nothing special to offer. However the P2.6M imported version is a different story.

From time to time, I see Camry and Accord along the road. I won't include Montero and Fortuner as I see it anywhere at any given day. However, I haven't seen much of the makes of Mazda like CX-5 and 6.

This gives me the impression that this brand is not so popular. Unless it's Mazda 3, the other models particularly the top ones are like "endangered species".

What can you say about this?

    Entertainment System

If I have understood it right, I won't be able to play videos... just audio files like MP3, AAC, etc.

    I find it frustrating.

Work around is using Android Auto mirroring. Another work around is to get a tablet for your passenger. [emoji16]

Now that you mentioned Android Auto, Mazda said that they haven't received any authority to use that. I'm just frustrated that I can't play the videos through USB. At the moment, I have no idea what is Android Auto is except that what is in my screen should be seen in my car. My two grown up kids never heard it...

There are available "hacks" in YouTube but it'll void your warranty.

The hacks are reversible. My buddy installed, removed & reinstalled on mine, Seamless.... but I have yet to really use it. I don't need navi in our neckodawoods....& the drive is enough entertainment for me. Music & videos are just distractions. Haha.

The guy in Mazda confirmed it (let's be quiet about this), there is no way for them "to know" if you did that "thing". At the moment, I don't have the guts to do it on my own. I don't know why but back then, I was dismantling computers and doing experiments on softwares. Those were the 8086 family where "everything" needs to be typed and that also means that you needed to memorize "all" the commands. Otherwise, you won't go anywhere. Another thing, no mouse but keyboards only. The last OS I am familiar with is XP and OS X and the last thing that I modified is Samsung S2. The guy who built my computer (I no longer want to do it on my own) installed the "latest" software available during that time. I find it annoying... I can't find the "start" button and "program files".

I hate to say this, but is this the sign of getting old? I'm not really old, but I think I'm in a stage that I'm stuck in what I know that is comfortable for me and no longer interested to learn new things. Just an example for an old man's saying, "Read first the manual / instruction book and then ask me later what you found out." I just finished reading the Owner's Manual for Mazda 6 yesterday from cover to cover. I don't see any benefit for me in doing so but it has been a practice of mine, read first.

I think I went overboard, I've been ranting... out of frustrations. Anyways, I like machine gray. It's a great color!

    Distractions

Yes, in a way it is a form of distraction. It is just that there are times when I'm in a cozy highway driving and literally I'm all alone in a highway that I have those videos running. I don't actually watch it but I listen to it or there are times that they want to watch.

    Navigation

The built-in navigation system is good for me except that it's not like Waze. Navigation is a must for me, because I am a "driver" with "no sense of direction".

A driver with no sense of direction? I really am.

Just now I went to our bank to make a deposit. Our friendly manager went out to see this new Mazda 6 and while we were outside, another depositor came and asked if that car belongs to him. The manager told him it was mine.

Naturally the conversation went to "how much" and when he got the figure he asked right away "why not an SUV" question. Again, I smiled and said that I had CR-V 98 and I wanted a car this time. He went around the car "to inspect" what's inside and what's under the hood.

He exclaimed in a cursing manner that it is indeed a great car. Of course, I got the surprised look when I told them that it's a diesel variant. So I decided to start the engine so they could hear how "quiet" the engine is.

How glad am I that I wasn't able to purchase the CR-V SX.

Hehehe. Brings back amusing memories...Mine was among the early sightings of the 3rd gen 3 some 3.5years ago. It got frequent long stares. Was thrown questions like..."Is that the new 6?" "How much? Above 2M?" & comments like..."Dayummm, the interiors are so euro-esque"...Jaws dropped when they found out twas just a humble hobo 1.5.[emoji4]

It seems that Mazda has an impression of being an expensive vehicle. The other depositor said, "I'll buy that Mazda 6 once I get rich." Another comment was from my wife's cousin, "It's beautiful but expensive." I really wonder... the other guy said he owns a Montero. Price range is close to 2M. My wife's cousin owns a brand new Nissan Navara and her husband has a second hand Nissan patrol. These people are saying I have an expensive car. I don't know for the other guy, but for my relative who from time to time joins an off-road adventure, how can they say I have an expensive car?

I just don't understand... perhaps the answer lies with what you said, it depends on what you want and need. They don't need a car so if they buy one, that's expensive. I don't like SUV, so it will be a luxury for me to get one.

Mazda had to deliberately inject a flaw on the 3 & the 2...the bucktooth plate on the pretty kodo grille.[emoji34]
The 6 was the inspiration for the 2/BM3/BN3 No-Drill Plate Relocators.

I didn't know that there were "some issues" with the plate... and I have to agree that it doesn't look good on it.

I'm so thankful that I have this generation which is "perfect". Well, no perfect car really exist...
