    From Left Lane News...

    "Mazda*has announced that its next pickup truck will be developed and built by*Isuzu.

    The yet-unnamed model will replace the BT-50, a*Ford*Ranger-based mid-size truck that's nearing the end of its life cycle.*It's still at the embryonic stage of development so what it will look like and what it will be powered by are anyone's guess at this point, but we'll find out more about it in the coming months.

    The deal is a win-win situation for both carmakers, at least on paper. On one hand, it helps Isuzu offset the high cost of designing a new truck from scratch, and it will ultimately give the firm's factories extra units to build. On the other hand, it lets Mazda replace the BT-50 at minimal cost, allowing the small company to focus on developing the passenger cars and*crossovers that make up the bulk of its global sales.

    Mazda's version of the truck will be sold in countless global markets, but the company has already noted that the United States won't be one of them. When they debut, the pickups will fight in the same segment as the*Toyota Hilux, theVolkswagen Amarok, Chevy/Isuzu variants and the*Nissan Navara/Renault Alaskan*twins."

    Earlier news invloved mitsu and toyota. But "this" will help the Mazda brand especially in australia. Mazda will have a good time refining the "truck"

    Two of the best suspension specialists working together. Hmm interesting marriage.

    I wonder if there is a new platform coming with this partnership. I heard there is a secret development from isuzu for their dmax/mux offerings.

    Looks like this will take a while.. but the BT 50 is being offered at zero percent interest and zero down payment for up to five years.. usually this means a new model is coming up. Stay tuned

    Imagine a BT50 skyactiv diesel with the current 2.2 twin turbo of the CX5. That engine is something else. Then launch it alongside a PPV version. Gonna give the top dogs a run for their money.

    Isuzu.. I think is developing a bigger version of the 1.9L diesel engine for the southeast asian market. This probably prompted Mazda to partner with Isuzu.

    Mazda wont use their own engine for this new pickup. This is what they did with the current bt50. They just retuned the suspension and other minor aspects.

    This bigger version of the 1.9L possibly will be powering the BT50 by 2019. I dont think mazda will use the same 3.0 diesel engine from isuzu.

    2.5vgt --->> 1.9L 350Nm
    3.0vgt---->> 2.xL 4xxNm

    Yeah, just wishful thinking. The venerable 2.2 skyactiv-d is transverse-mounted anyway. Europe already has the Isuzu 4JK1 2.5 twin turbo (163ps, 400Nm) so expect that to be used. Not sure if this is Euro6 compliant already. But I'm wishing for a 3.0 twin turbo instead, that will silence the haters.

    The 2.5TT is euro spec only...

    Don't see why they can't mount it on future asian models.
