    I'm not here to pop other people's balloons, but rotary engines have always had a voracious appetite for oil. Although the new generation renesis has cut oil consumption by half compared with the old rotary, it still on the average consumes about a quart of oil every 500miles (the older rotary consumes a quart every 200 miles). Mazda recommends checking the oil at least twice a month and its not an easy task as the dipstick is buried deep in the engine bay. If Mazda happens to recommend Mobil 1 synthetic oil on this one, I'm sure this would turn off a lot of potential buyers.

    a lot of oil is burned in the combustion process, as oil is directly injected on the six rotor seals, (three on each corner of the twin triangular rotors).
