Ganda talaga ng RX8. Swerte nung mga nakabili na dahil may $500 credit tapos free scheduled maintenance for the whole warranty period (should be in the 4-digit range). All this because Mazda, just like Hyundai, miscalculated the RX8's HP figure again (remember the Miata?).
Personally, I could really care less about the HP figures being accurate in the RX8..... the way the car looks, feel, and handle, I would take whattever they give and keep driving.
BTW for North American 6MT RX8s is down to 238hp while the 4AT is down to 197hp. The dyno is showing more, however...... The jap version still gets 250hp.
All because of the strict emission rules we have here......
IMHO, i think yung car ng pang masa lang will be distributed.
to compete with the likes of corolla, lancer, civic, & sentra.
sana nga pati yung mga 2 door sport cars din, pero i doubt.
Originally posted by mazdamazda what would be the rx-8's price when it hits here?
there are two variants... the lesser (200hp) is priced at $27,500... let's just assume $27,500 as the gross price (MSRP) (w/o tax)
$27,500 X P55/$1 = P1,512,500 (MSRP no TAX)
plus
(P1,375,000 - P600,000) * 20% = P127,500 (am not sure what this is, hehehe)
plus
P12,000 (...and this)
=
PhP?????????
kinda "affordable" isn't it? or is there something wrong in my comp*tation? am kinda eyeing this or the mazda6 as the replacement for my 323...
nothing wrong with the calculation but you underestimated the BASE Price for AT of $27,500 w/o TAX. $28,300.00 MSRP for 6MT destination charge included ($550) but TAX (California Tax is 8.25%)and licensing and documentations NOT included.
i saw my first one in person in a shopping mall today....omg is it a gorgeous car - i thought the nissan 350z was the best new sporty car out today, but i think i have a new favorite - may back seat pa!

I think Mazda Phils. will come out strong. If product selection will be based on what Ford Phils. has, then Mazda will not be able to sell anything here except the RX8!
In other markets that Ford and Mazda operate, both have similar products. The thinking, I guess, is that both brands have a different positioning and market.
I hope they come out with the full range of new generation Mazda products. Sobrang galing the recent products that Mazda came out with, panay hakot ng awards globally!
I hope mazda sources its cars from japan not the US para at least mas malakas ang engines and probably have better suspension settings . I hate cars coming from the US They have so much emissions regulations that it hampers the cars performance.
Tha is why you should never buy an imported USDM car because there probably is a better model being sold in other parts of the world.
The article in USA today is so typical of americans who only like big horsepower to get performance. Don't they know you can get a better more sportier performing car without getting more horsepower.
FORD would not publicly admit it, but it now appears that the Dearborn headquarters tacitly concede that scuttling Mazda to make way for the return of Ford in the Philippines had been a mistake.
Ford Philippines has already formally informed President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that Mazda cars would again be available by the "first quarter of 2004."
Other than the target period, the local Ford was mum about other details of the re-launch.
But like the Ford re-launch, the Mazda comeback will likely start off with offering the brand's higher-end models like the engineering marvel RX-8 and the highly competitive Mazda6.
The ever-popular Mazda Miata roadster, which also has built a local cult following, might even stage a comeback after its brief pre-Asian crisis offering, especially with the excise tax now reduced to more affordable level.
