Mazda will be releasing a new platform specific for Japan only. It will be a replacement for the CX9 as Japan won't be getting the CX9. The CX8 is smaller than the CX9 but bigger than the CX5. It will be as wide as the CX5 but has the wheelbase of the CX9. Powerplant will be the SkyActiv-D 2.2L diesel mated to a 6-speed AT. Seating will be for 6 or 7 passengers.
