The 2nd Gen CR-V is really a huge guzzler, even with the 2.0. Something about the tuning of the K20 variant that went in that car. The 3rd gen with the R20 is much, much better... and even the third gen with the K24 and AWD is better than the old 2.0... I remember driving that through the hills of Tanay for a photoshoot and watching the fuel gauge go down, down, down...

My uncle complained about his 2nd gen CR-V AWD. Said it was more economical to take out his Ford Explorer (old 4.0) on the highway because it drank less gas!

The 3rd gen CR-V is much better... much better transmission, better engine tuning. Our 2.4 still does 5-7 in traffic... but what do you expect? It's a fricking 2.4. The 2.5 CX7 is a match for our car and the 2.4 RAV4 in terms of fuel economy. It's a "guzzler" only if you compare it to a compact 1.6...

But seeing the CX5, I understand why they dropped the CX7. The CX5 has similar interior space and trunk space yet is smaller... much more efficient packaging than the CX7.

I had the 2nd Gen CR-V for 5 years and thought the consumption was high but pretty normal for a CUV. But doing research and now driving a CX-5, I can say that the 2nd Gen CRV is the most 'expensive' ride I've ever had!

I use Petron Extra. I think friend Larry uses Blaze or V-Power.

One of my friends who bought a CX-5 told me about his experience with it. He went to subic and had the car filled to the brim. He went around subic over that same weekend, then went back home to his pasig residence, and the fuel gauge didn't even move. Sobrang tipid naman?

Hehehe, baka yung decrement ng fuel gauge are full, 3/4, half, 1/4 & empty kaya hindi nag move.

Ganun pa man kung around 60li ang tank capacity tapos ang odo reading is around 200km, aba matipid nga. Assuming na 200km/15li ang consumption nya, its about 13kpl. Hmm, posible pero yung gauge decreament ang nakakapagtaka.hehehe

Ewan ko lang din sir. But i think the gauge for this is digital, i dont know if that matters in terms of incremental decrease.

Reliable pa rin kung full tank-to-full tank.
New technology naman naman ang CX-5 kaya posible na matipid talaga yan.

Good luck sa kaibigan mo Bro!

That's why the more accurate way of determining fuel consumption is by computing it manually, 'coz even the on board FC computer can be off by a fraction of KM or L, lalo ng di pwede asahan ung fuel gauge indicator.
