I still have to see, on the road, the "All-new 2012" more expensive Mazda 3.

This is an ideal setup for the new Mazda 3:

    OEM RX-8 rims
    Lowering springs/Coilovers

Pogi talaga ng Mz3 na naka-RX8 rims. May Concept One replica niyan for the budget-conscious hihi.

Back to the Mz3 pricing, I keep my stand that it's 100k too much for the 2.0. The old one was at 1.1M, without the discounts. If they priced it at 1.2M, it would've been good since may mga bagong dagdag naman - 5-speed AT, push-start ignition, updated interior and exterior.

Yung 1.6, hindi ko maintindihan. It doesn't deserve to be a peso above 900k despite its features, because it's got that underwhelming engine. Pero pansin ko lang, it's not as awful as others point it out to be. Hindi siya matipid sa gas like the Altis which can get you 9 km/L in the city even in AT form, but at roughly 8 km/L, there are a lot of other thirstier engines.

I have the previous 1.6 and I agree its not that bad. Replaced the rims with lighter one and put in a K&N drop-in filter the performance had improved.

The new gen is really a looker and much roomier; casa was egging me to upgrade but I said no with the current pricing its too expensive. I'm more inclined to upgrade into a CX-5.

No discounts at all? Lakas ng loob nila ah. Tingnan natin kung makabenta sila kahit 50 units this year with that pricing.

I saw 1 (one) 2-3 weeks ago. May plates na. Maybe members of the Mazda management/owners?

    Haven't seen any since then.

For a sporty compact, it's not highly spec'ced, not quick and definitely not cheap. Not a recipe for a bestseller.

When I went to their launch event and saw the specs vis-a-vis the prices - I already thought to myself that some of the product planners ought to be fired for this.

If your <50 units is true, I think that indeed may happen.

Then again, halos lahat ng models nila nilalangaw na ngayon.

The Mazda2 sold quickly for a while then interest kinda disappeared.

Then you see brand new units for the 6/CX5/7/9 ever so rarely. I've probably seen more brand new, dealer-plates, ugly Gen4 CRVs and even Rav4s [!] recently than new Mazdas.

Saw one too, in red. I really like the car and how it drives, and I'm the type that would prefer performance over toys, so price aside, I think the new Mz3 is great. But 1.3M is too much. Though interestingly, the Lancer EX GT-A also sells for 1.3M (kaso alam ko may discounts 'to). The Mazda 3 definitely has a better interior than the EX, though the EX has the advantage when it comes to space and toys.

If its the CBU Japan thing that's the issue, I suggest they just import units from Thailand. The only CBU Japan car that sells right now is the Civic, and that's because it's a Honda. Obviously, to the minds of many, Honda = prestige and prestige = you-can-charge-me-whatever-you-want.

I just estimated that they'd be hard pressed to sell even just 50 units, though I really have no idea how much their sales target is.

Huwaaa.. uminit na sana ang interest ko dahil "all new mazda 3" ang sabi. I was expecting the new sky-active engine under the hood. Really still the old 1.6L engine?? IMHO-disgusting. Well..the 1.8L GLS Elantra will continue to serve me for years ahead.

Wala eh.

In all honesty, I took a seat inside. If they gave the car better specs for the price. I think the new 3 could have given the Civic, Altis and Elantra a run for their money.

Brandwise, I think Mazda will have better brand reception than Hyundai from those moving from traditional Japanese brands.

From 05, i liked every car on their lineup.. Maybe except forthe BT50

Wala kasing 1.6 or 1.8L man lang na skyactive engines to look forward to. tsk, tsk.

I can't imagined my 2008 MZ3 has the same old engine with the 2012 MZ3.

Pero in fairness ganda ng design external and internal.

Let's wait na lang for the new Mazda 6, baka may laban pa to sa Sonata.

Well they dug their own grave with the price/specs. The 2.0L SkyActiv of the CX-5 originally debut in the Mazda3. Not sure why they chose to use the old 2.0L engine.

Nirereserve siguro nila yung 2.0L SkyActiv for upcoming facelifts.
