Hello Mazda truckers!
Each time I read this forum, I always long for my B2500. Though it stayed with us for almost 13 yrs. gathering more than 228k kms, I could say it was still pretty good when we sold it.
Anyhow, I could recall way back when my fuel filter didn't have that pump yet and didn't really put attention to replace the fuel filter each time I had an oil change, I got this idea from sir Dusky, there was that time wherein the engine shakes very wild upon start up and also at turning it off. I noticed as well that the pull wasn't that strong. I brought it to my mechanic and he advised to change the fuel filter. Upon changing, we thought that everything was fine but after he installed it, he advised me to buy the one with a pump to prevent the hassle of using your mouth to sip the fuel and to remove the air. I said how much and told them next time. I haven't gotten far from the auto shop, the engine shook wildly and the engine died. So I called them and he did that ancient procedure of sipping the fuel. I got home but really worried along the way. But still the engine shakes very bad.
I called and inquired about that pump and they gave me 2 choices: 1 is replacement, the other is an original from L300. I said I'll try the replacement. F**k, NEVER EVER BUY a replacement. It didn't even last a week and told them I will get the original plus I want a new fuel filter that would fit in it. After they have installed, I immediately felt the improvement in the engine performance. And the mechanic told me that the very first time that I will start the engine, I should pump the filter 3x to remove the air. I always did that and never had any problems with that wild shaking anymore. Plus I also followed the advise of sir Dusky to have the fuel separator cleaned at DRT then have them adjust the valves, and I also changed the air filter. Never had any problems anymore until we sold it.
