*life2enjoi: congratulations on the purchase! it would be best that you have the pick-up thoroughly checked by a reputable shop or mechanic. have all fluids drained and replaced new. document/record the things you've done to it as well. then follow the recommended maintenance schedule. i think many of the B2200/B2500 owners here still have their truck manual.

since our trucks are now more than 10 years old, what i do is to not really follow the standard maint schedule i.e. oil change every 5000km.. i have engine oil changed every 2000-3000km; brake fluid and clutch fluid every 5000km. radiator fluid [distilled water + coolant] change every year... keeps my truck happy. hehe!

    Dear life2enjoi:

From the pictures you have posted, I can now confirm that it is a STOCK WL-31 (naturally aspirated) and NOT a WLT-31 (turbo).

All of that piping is just the standard inlet system of the engine, including the orthogonal resonance box and the long steel tube induction pipe.

I see no oil leaks or dribbling fluids anywhere, this engine is much cleaner than in the last set of pics.

Everything looks OK and you're indeed right, the interior has been changed somewhat.

The dashboard looks stock but it looks like someone stole the stereo and destroyed the housing in the process.

The gear shift lever looks like it was modified to be longer so it now sticks out prominently from the stock bellows.

What is the purpose of the button below the fusebox near the steering column? - that's definitely NOT stock.

The hood release handle is upside down, and some wiring harness needs to be secured.

The placement of the resonance box next to the exhaust manifold is wrong, it will get too hot and might melt.

It should be mounted beside the air filter box and the coolant recovery tank.

Your brake and clutch fluid levels are low, you should suck out the old fluid to flush the system and top up with fresh, new fluid.

The fuel filter assembly is no longer original (good!) and has been replaced with a model with a hand pump.

The wiring harness is still original although the engine shows signs of rust in the strangest places - injection nozzles, brake lines, etc.

There are signs of painter's overspray everywhere on the engine, nothing a little touch-up won't cure.

    Overall, CONGRATS!!!

    Welcome to the Club!!!

    Best Regards,

    Dusky Lim

    1. replace all fluids ~ engine oil, transmission oil, rear axle oil, radiator coolant + distilled water, brake & clutch fluid.
    2. have an electrician check your wirings [power mirror check / fuse box etc].
    3. replace the pedal rubbers with OEM ones too. they're super worn out!
    4. remove the electrical tape wrap on the steering column.
    5. get a surplus set of the center console + stereo box.
    6. have your brakes checked/cleaned/adjusted and front brakes pads replaced with bendix metal king [recommended]; rear brakes with OEM or rico japan brake lining/shoes.
    7. get a new set of car matting.
    8. do some exterior and interior detailing.

    cheers!

    azzkkr2600 and sir dusky!

    you're welcome sir!

    * since your ODO is now at 239T km, it is recommended [unless the previous owner said that he changed it before the 200T km mark] that you have the timing belt set replaced. if i were you, i'll have it replaced asap. get OEM mazda parts at autorama in banawe, qc.
    * option mo kung ano'ng oil ang bibilhin. just make sure it's multigrade. another good oil to use is the caltex delo gold. if you have the moolah, go for royal purple fully synthetic.
    * both transmission and rear axle oil can be SAE90 grade oil. have this changed at your favorite gas station. they have a lifter!
    * tire pressure? that depends on the tire size you have. my shoes are 31x10.5 so i air it to 26/28psi front/rear.. standard for the mazda [i think] is 30psi all around. buy valve caps too!
    * don't forget to flush out the old brake/clutch fluid & radiator water [use distilled water + a coolant of your choice].. i recommend prestone dot3 brake fluid & shell blue coolant.
    * prepare approx P5000+ for the fluid change / P10000+ [with brakes change] / P15000+ [with center console / stereo box] / P25000-P30T [with everything + a new pioneer stereo & speakers].

    end result? happy truck!

Ronn, 15k for the stereo box? Wow! Ang mahal naman. Is this surplus or NOS? I've been noticing a lot of dressed up mazda pickups lately. Most noticeable is a violet truck in a condo along Vito Cruz cor Taft Ave. Dumadami na tayo. Hehehe...Life2enjoi: do the basic work on your truck, and with routine maintenance and a little tlc, your rig will serve you well for the next decade to come. Good luck man. EB na ulit. Mcdo Libis.

    Dear life2enjoi:

I will explain and demo what I mean sa next EB natin.

    bors:

I second-the-motion!!! Next EB at McDo Libis (end of April?).

    Guys:

Dito sa SM-Fairview, yung kausap kong sticker guys will sell a 3 color, 3"x8"
sticker for Php 100 per pc if we order 20 pcs or more.

For small orders Php 150 / pc.

Other sizes and color combinations are negotiable.

FYI, if you have a sample timing belt, you can buy either a Mitsuboshi or Gates belt for around Php 1500 duon sa dulo ng Recto, at my suki na wholesaler.

Many things to look at and discuss, marami akong bagong project, you'll just have to wait and see at the next EB.

As a hint, we have an on-going Isuzu Trooper turbo-diesel tuning project where the results will blow your mind!!!

    Regards,

    Dusky Lim

Hello Everyone! Just want to share mine. Hope you like it.

It is still running with stock r2 engine, lifted 3 inches high(body only) and I'm planning for an engine conversion just like Sir Stansuarez is thinking. 2.5 engine will do and with turbo is better.

Magkano kayo budget dito and what engine do you suggest?

Will post some of the pics later. :D
