Ok, salamat sa inyong lahat... I appreciate your time posting your views about my query.. Looking forward to posting more dito... I'm actually hiring a mechanic to check the car first before I buy it... salamat sa contributions nyo nagka-idea ako kung ano ang itatanong ko don sa mekaniko besides "Ok ba kondisyon nito?".. hehehehe

I'd like to ask some inputs from you guys. My friend is selling his 98 Mazda gli not sure kung mazda familia or 323 lang. According to him, top of the line siya with ABS. Anong difference ng GLI sa GLXI? Ano yung top of the line sa dalawa? Also, since 98 sabi nila yung logo daw would be the "seagul wing" hindi na yung parang "candle light". Tama ba? Nasakyan ko na 'to pero and OK naman. Walang kalampag kaya lang may naririning kami minsan maingay. Sabi niya water pump daw yun di siya sure dun. Parang may hissing sounds. Minsan lang mangyari yun. Ano tingin niyo dapat ipaayos dun? How much kaya cost? Thanks! 180K daw! Worth na ba for 98 gli model? 60K mileage.

    Cheers!

Top of the line of the 323 with the "seagull wing" logo is the GLXI, while for the one with the "candle light" logo it is the GLX.

AFAIK, the GLI doesn't have ABS, foglamps, etc.

For 180K - that is a good buy already.

Hmmm, i wonder why? Kasi sabi sakin GLI yun w/ ABS. Regular tune up lang ginagawa niya dun. And how much ang cost?

180K for 98 mazda GLI is a good buy?

    Thanks a lot!

if it has ABS it HAS to be a GLXi.

anyway 180k for a '98 GLXi is OK. but that price for a '98 GLi is a bit high (160k dapat siguro).

if you buy it, you should replace the timing belt, timing belt tensioner and idler bearings, and water pump, as well as the usual tuneup suspects (plugs, wires, air/oil/fuel filter, engine oil, and preferably the gearbox oil as well). this will cost you around 10,000 - 15,000 but should give you lots of peace of mind.

yung timing belt kapapalit pa lang daw. not sure dun sa iba...

10-15K? tapos OK na yun? then normal tune up na lang?

yup glxi ang top of the line sa year na yun. ang glxi may ganitong stock amenities na madaling makita na wala sa gli (although bka pedeng naglagay ng aftermarket):

    3rd brake light
    rear defogger
60-40 split/fold backseat with center armrest
    rear seatbelts
    driver's seat height adjuster
    driver airbag (sa steering wheel)
    foglamps
    cd changer
    7 spoke mags

really? even the box-type 323 has a 3rd brake light and rear defogger!

ang alam ko talagang big difference ng GLXi sa GLi is the ABS, airbag (merong "SRS airbag" printed on the steering wheel), foglamps, and the luxo 20-disc CD changer.

Thanks a lot sa mga inputs! Laking tulong talaga with a very QUICK response. Cool!

This is my first car na pag lalaruan ko for ilang mos up to one year lang siguro. But if i find it more aggresive than Honda.

    Thanks a lot!

as i mentioned in my prior post, dapat palitan mo na yung parts na na-mention ko

baka laspag na rin yung shocks, pero pagawa mo nalang kay Zee. laking tipid (2000+ ang isang shock for the 323, pero 600 lang refill kay Zee, naging gas shock pa)

for some strange reason (na-o-OT na ito) hindi gaanong malaki ang improvement sa 626 ko from my Zee visit. ganun din yung friend ko with an AE92. it seems that in order to get the most from your Zee experience, dapat ay bumalik ka for followup (yung friend ko with the AE92, bumalik and masaya din siya).

Zee has pretty good customer service of course (hindi ka ma-do-double dead sa labor kung bumalik ka thanks to the 15000km warranty) pero hassle mag day-off para pumunta dun, tapos kung weekend naman patay ka sa pila.

i was referring to the familia (gen2.5) difference between the gli and glxi models. di ako familiar sa box-type or gen1 series.

kelan ba last lumabas yung gen1/box-type? di na ata sya inabot ng "gull-wing" emblem. or inabot ba?
