Try a new fuel filter or have the catalytic converter checked to see if its plugged. Also, when was the last time you tune up your car?

I have the same problem I think. 1997 Mazda 323 EFi, yung idling baba-taas. Hindi namana apektado ng pag-on ng aircon. Three times na ako namatayan kapag nilipat sa R or D3 kasi bumabagsak ng todo pag nilipat. Mahina din ang hatak minsan sa simula. Ano kaya problema? I've read in some threads that it could be because of a dirty throttle body, or something like that.
First time to own an EFi, so I don't know where to have it checked. Any suggestions? Q.C. area preferrably. Any Mazda expert mechanics or shops out there other than casa? Thanks in advance for your help.
Sana maayos yung kotse natin, sir Razor!

March 17th, 2009 12:00 PM #4common problem ng 323 familia. try nyong linisin yung MAF sensor. ito naging problem ko dati ng kay tagal. ilang beses ako nagpalit ng sparkplug (from regular to 4-tip to platinum), palit din ng high tension wires, air filter tube, linis ng throttle body, pati distributor napalitan ko na!
tapos i heard about the MAF getting dirty sa mga nissan. inisip ko baka same lang sa mazda. ginawa ko na lang, kuha akong contact cleaner. then disconnect the air filter box dun sa tube. may maliit na box dun sa dulo ng tube. yun yung MAF sensor. pagsinilip mo sa loob, may 2 or 3 wires na parang nakasabit. spray it directly at a distance with contact cleaner. pero ingat na hindi maputol yung wires. kung mangyari yun, patay ka hehe. let dry for a while. then ulit ulitin hanggang kumintab na sa linis yung wires. then check if nag ok na yung idling.
this was the cheapest solution i tried and it worked. di na bumalik yung idling problem ko after.

Hanapin ko din yang MAF na yan. Titingnan ko muna kung kaya ko gawin on my own.
Salamat sa mga advice! Sana mag-work na ito

March 17th, 2009 10:18 PM #7no prob!

Sirs,
Paano tanggalin yung filter/MAF housing from that big hose-like thing? Na buksan ko na mismo yung filter box (I could see the MAF na! dumi nga!) pero hindi ko matanggal yung filter cover/MAF housing; hatak lang ba yun? I already removed the clamp from the hose, too.

Salamat uli! Will let you know kung ok kalabasan mamaya; palitan ko muna yung carb cleaner ko.
Choice I would have made as well.
